Why cant we get a National Off-Road Series going in Australia. Each State could put on a minimum of one race to count as a national. Each Race should be a minimum of 500 Km and should be run over two days. We already have the Finke which could count as one and here in WA we have the Gas Dash which could count as another. This way the guys that are good at Off-Road can get an opportunity to get National recognition as well as sponsorship possibilities.

Top Idea BUT in a nice way talk to Yoffa at finke he has to many bike/quads now and doesn't want promote more . Now if your talkings cars your in Talk to Dean Hersey at Katherine club he would be keen for a big event. as for the other states how knows NSW seem to be horse and cart guys fighten over a beach rater than puttin on some great events. just my 2 cents worth

there is no need to be pedantic about our beach ( they say if its worth saving then save it properly ) just because the crocs up there patrol the beachs is not our fault . maybe you might need to enlist the services of our indigenous brothers to clear the way for you,s to find out what its like to ride the dunes...
RICK
P.S. mr goat sir, i say this with tounge in cheak and lmao with humor..

Just so you don't think us guy's and gals down south are sitting on our hands and not organising any cross country events.....

I was keeping it under my hat until I had all the sponsors organised, but we are close enough now to make it official.

This looks to be a great event and would be part of a Australian series Please consider your dates carefully for people like ourselves who like to travel.
At the moment WA Gas Dash 3rd week in Oct
Vic Pump 300 last week in April
NT Kamfari first week in May
NSW ???
QLD ???
SA ???
TAS ???
I do realize Its too hard for everybody to get to every event a leaf out the 2 wheeler book they run 2 rounds on the same weekend. Maybe the states take turns alternate years Maybe a major sponsor like TOLL eg to keep costs down
Back to pump 300 shottie we can bring 4 seniors and 6 kids

Awsome Mick well done mate.
Clearly Mick is putting alot of work into this event, so this is our chance lets support this race and get it off the ground and just maybe off road racing just might take off in this country. Let me tell you it's alot more fun than a 20 min moto around an MX track _________________ Smitty |

PC, if you can talk MA into allowing trikes under an MA permit, bring it on. Just a little tip though.....they will not. Sorry.

The Extream Enduro is a little while off yet Goat but maybe oneday.
To be honest mate I think a national off road series is going to be hard to get support for when we don't even have a National MX series yet. Don't get me wrong because thats the type of riding that I prefer, besides Finke we dont really have any national class enduros yet.
If you want this to get off the ground you have to establish at least 5 or 6 big events just like Mick is doing now, and then one day when they are big enough by that I mean at least 70 to 100 riders at each event maybe we could tie them all together. Plus remember most of these will have to be run on privite property _________________ Smitty |

I agree Smitty.
The Thumb Pump 300 will be run under an inter-club permit. This will not only keep entry fees low, but it will allow those who do not currently race at a national level to enter on a one event license ($45). As soon as we run it under a national permit, you all need the $280+ national license to enter.

Ok I know the donkey i'm trying to push is a dead duck . But a series of existing events to form a national series could work.
By the way why don't we have a national motocross series? Just remind me I forgot.

Its a bit expensive for the average guy, hard to get enough time off work to go to each round. 2 reasons why it might die off after a few years. _________________ Mic

Because we still only get about 140 riders to a one off national race weekend our sport is not big enough yet _________________ Smitty |

Correct me if I'm wrong Mick but you won't be running under MA rather it will have to be run under MV if your going to run it as an Interclub. If you call it an Open event as per your flyer then riders will have to have a National licence as a one event licence will not be available.
Good idea though, best of luck with it. |

Would love to see one here in tas, but unless you include a water event it just won't work over 500k Tassie just isn't big enough and we would all be riding in fear of running over greenies that have chained themselves to trees, Sounds great and I would definately be in it, I could then sponsor myself instead of these young guys we do now and they keep bloody well crashing...
Bring it on and I will be there... _________________ Andrew |

Hi Beech, long time no see!
You are spot on, The event will be run under an MV inter-club permit. I just said MA so people realised it was run under the MOMS (GCR's) guidelines and insurance, just like the MV motocross events. This way day licenses are allowed, to make it more accessible to everyone and cheaper to enter. Hugh has already approved the sup regs so all I need is a couple more sponsors and we are good to go. Thanks for the advice, I will change the wording in the entry forms.
So do you think we could see you out there in April mate?

Guys, I here you when you say we are too small. But we gotta start somewhere.
In South Africa, we started out with twenty quads piggy backing on the two wheeler events. Now, there is a seperate Quad Series with 120 plus riders in +/- six different classes. There are fully sponsored teams and individual riders and the series comprises 8 or 9 events of which two are 1000km events. I do understand that the distances here in Aus are obviously greater but if we could just start by getting someone like Toll on board it would make life just that much easier. _________________ Its not if you win or lose but how you enjoyed the ride! |
