Has anyone thought that Yamaha are being smart and taking a great marketing idea from Ford USA?
The F-Series trucks are the biggest selling trucks in the world, but only because they make about 100 different models. From the F150 right up to the Semi-trailer models they are all some kind of F-something.
Won't this Raptor 50-700 make the Yamaha Raptor the biggest selling ATV?
Just a thought.

Brought this to replace my daughters Polaris phoenix 200 last week. She loves it.
Its much quicker and easy to throw around and looks great. She loves the throttle response as well as the look. At 13 its about the only thing in a 4 stroke by MA rules she can race. I have love riding it and plan to race it in the senior quads up here myself

I think Yamaha missed the mark with the 250, if you're too small to throw a quad around then you're gonna struggle to get off & muscle the thing around becoz you don't have reverse, I woulda bought one of these for my other half if it had reverse, & that motor is never gonna be a racer either, so it's not a junior racer or a beginners quad, so what is it?

Yeah i completely agree, the engine that is in it
will be very hard to modify and also have a
massive limitation of power gain because of it's
cooling ability. I just think yamaha didn't completely
finish the job properly.

Yeah whichever manufacturer makes a 250 race quad first will make a killing cause lets face it the other 250 class quads out there now are sh!t boxes when it comes to the race side of things.

They are always going to build bikes and quads to satisfy the needs of the majority. A family of weekend warriors are not going to buy a quad with snappy power that there kid can wrap themselves around a tree on. The Raptor 250 will be a succes for Yamaha because a hell of alot more kids trail/social ride than race.

On the net you only ever hear about how dissapointed the people on the racing side of the sport are because not to many trail riders are regulars on forums. Smile

just finished reading the article on the new raptor 250 in ATV action.

i think yamaha succeeded beautifully in replacing the blaster!

lets face it, the blaster was never a race quad to start with either, straight outa the factory they are a teenagers/beginners quad, which is obviously what yamaha intended way back in 88 or whenever it was, and also why they put an IT200 trail bike engine in it instead of say the current model YZ125.... and now yamaha has used the same concept again i reckon, using a trail bike motor instead of the YZ250F motor.

if you wanna race a blaster you gotta do bulk mods to it.. a arms, swing arm shocks wheels tyres, pipe, porting, different head, bigger carb ignition etc...

im sure the yanks will come up with a heap of goodies for this new one too!

i agree that the manufacturers should make 250 race quads, why cant they just stick the YZ250F, CRF250R or RMZ250 motors in the 450 chassis with a few small changes, thats all they do with the two wheelers?

at the nats the current junior aussie number 1 took a raptor 250 out for 2 laps it has a gytr muffler on it as the only mods and within the 2 laps was clearing a few tabletops that the moded blaster onbly just clear

so with mods like the racing juniors have on a rap 250 you may be surprised

all the reports here i see are from adults who never have rode or raced a blaster either Adam or myself mmaybe be able to get mitch to to a little report on it for us to post here on what he thought after 2 lap on a mx track with it and he starts senior class next year so should be pretty fair and close report

I think that the 250 Raptor would be a perfect bike for younger teens like me that like to mostly just ride trails but do a few jumps and a little bit of moto cross but aren't serious racers. I would love one but can't aford it so am going to have to buy a cheaper chinese brand.
