ok so a worked ltr in finke trim does 130km/h, add 25 km/h to that and you are doin the speeds that my mate's bike pulls, which is ALOT.
imagine you are standing still and someone comes past you at 25km/h.....
and bansheebuzz says in that thread that his bike is 90mph when it crosses the line?? the trex does 95mph... doesnt sound like alot but imagine ol bansheebuzz goin flat out and someone comes past him almost 10km/h faster....
also, he mentions that is running 17/40 gearing, that means his bansh is only doing 9000rpm (if hes running 20inch tyres), id be willing to bet that he could cut better times with lower gearing.
in my opinion it is easy to get 90mph out of a banshee, i have seen 11070rpm on a banshee with nothing other than dmc pipes and K&N filter, with 14/41 gearing and 20in tyres.... which = 89.7mph! it is anything more than 90mph where you start needing big power to push the slab fronted banshee any faster....
and no the trex does not have tuning issues, the dyno it has been measured at 70hp on is very conservative, and it would probably pull 80hp on some of the dyno's down south. no real proof of this "low reading dyno" other than the fact that alot of low hp bikes that come off it are really quick, for example a 59hp yz450f that finished a very close second to Mick Hansens cr500 at the beach drags (micks cr does 10s maybe even 9s at the drags?) and the same guy with the trex who has gotten to within less than a second of Derek Rumbles "record" at the flat track in the gold coast, on a 44hp banshee! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

Hey guys I don't want to get involved in your bitchy little girly fight, but to set the record straight my LT-R (in 06 when we were doing testing) was stock as a rock except for a slip on pipe, a Vortex Intercepter and map key, 13T front sprocket and 20's on the rear.
Please don't bring me into it again as I wont respond _________________ Smitty |

this threads getting a bit stale don't ya think.
now everyones "talked the talk" why don't ya all find a salt lake & "walk the walk".
drag racing & top speed races are getting big in US - why not here?
there seems to be plenty of interest & i would love to see some of these project quads & drag quads show us whats possible. _________________ Raptor 700 |

hey mate from my point of view it wasn't a bitchy little girl fight, OZ_450 continued to get upset and respond negatively when all i am doing is talking about relative top speeds of quads... which is why this thread was started in the first place?
i wont go back and edit my posts either as it is all factual information and i dont regret anything ive said!
but whatever im over it too, catch yas! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

hi i just came across this post, as some 1 stated earlier my banshee managed 90mph 145kmh down the quarter some 4 years ago.
The bike was tuned for bottom end to mid power for short curcuit racing. was not built for drag racing or top end power. The engine had very broad power band making most power between 6 and 9 grand, reving past 9500 was waste of time |

hey man what sorta mods did you do for the low end power?
a mate has his bansh set up for low end, he has lowered all the port timings with a thinner base gasket and widenend the tansfers for more area. it has SST pipes and 32mm mikunis. has pretty impressive low down grunt, you can go into a corner a gear higher than on any normal bansh and if the revs drop off itll still pull outa there no worries without having to down change.
i have a programmable ignition and power valve controller for my RZ motor, when i get it wired up i am going to try some deeply closing power valve settings to see how much grunt i can get down low.
should be good because i can still make it open up to around 200 degrees ex duration for a killer top end as well... _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |
