I am assuming it is the spark arrestor that you are looking at removing and not the baffle. Try the link above or search in the raptor forum as there have been a number of threads posted on this subject

I believe that when you remove the spark arrestor, which is the nozzle that you see hanging out of the end of your exhaust, that there is still an internal baffle remaining in the exhaust. The baffle can be removed and the spark arrestor reinstalled if you are riding mainly trail.

the bolt under the end of the muffler near the spark arrestor comes out with a bit of coercing with WD40 or similar. then give the bike a good half to full throttle and the spark arrestor will blow out, just make sure no one stands behind the bike when you do this

This will give you more grunt, just be sure to keep an eye on how lean/rich it is running, sometimes the computer won't adjust enough...

The EFI computer aboard the raptor is factory set and can not be adjusted to any changes to the A/F mix. Removing the spark arrestor/baffle will lean the A/F mix out even further on a bike that already runs lean from the factory. It would be wise to look at purchasing a fuel controller so that your A/F mix can be adjusted to compensate for your mods. You can then remove your airbox lid for additional air intake and really open up the flow. A Dobeck Gen 3 fuel contoller will set you back a couple of hundred bucks but it will ensure that you do not damage the bike in the long term by running it "hot". The S/A out, airbox lid off, fuel controller set up will give you noticeable horsepower improvement without laying out the dollars for the "big 3" mods. When you are ready to mod the bike further, the fuel controller can be adjusted accordingly.

Good choice. One of the guys I ride with here has gone the same way as you are. The difference in sound and "pull" between his and my stock '07 is huge.
