Currently looking at buying one of these for Mrs Fossil. I haven't been able to get any feedback from actual owners myself yet, but there is some good info in the test ride review ATV.riders.com did on them.

Personally I'd be looking at the 350 raptor, would seem to me that the rider would grow out of 250 a little to quick me thinks... _________________ 2005 KFX700

Yeah I hear what your saying yogie as both my kids and my wife ride 350 raptors almost every second day of the week
My daughter is 14 and handles the 350 well in all conditions although she dose not have the body weight to push such a heavy bike into the corners and finds it hard to counter weight the quad also when taking corners at speed
I won’t even start on my 9 year old son
The 350 is an awesome all-rounder quad for adults and your right it’s the best option for mrs fossil
As far as the 250 goes I think it purpose in life is would be to replace the 200 blaster as I don’t think Yamaha will be making 2 strokes anymore
The 250 its self as far as I know will be lighter than the 200 blaster and slightly longer /
wider out of the box
so for kids racing and riding trails ---- this is the machine ---- as far as adults I think its not worth the money
its only my opinion but the way I look at it – most adult riders on a quad this size would only be social trail riders and I think they would prefer a quad with reverse
thanks huge _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Should a V6 and V8 Commodore be called something else???
They look the same dont they???
Its a branding thing for families as Yamaha has cottoned on to the fact that Dad rides a 700, Mum rides a 350, Teenage kid rides a 250, Primary school kid rides an 80 & bub rides a 50.
I reckon its clever and yamaha save on marketing. Instead of giving a letter association such as KFX700 they gave it a name~ RAPTOR easier to associate with- they dont even give their flagship model a name YFZ450........
What should they call them if its time for a change?????? _________________ RAPTOR 660:

my wife started on a blaster and with some moding it went ok i even used to have a blast on it . now she is riding a LT-R 450 and seems ok on it
thing with smaller quads like the blaster i noticed arent as wide as the bigger cc quads so as she got faster the blaster got tippier on her so glad she has the lt-r now
for social would go 350cc and up in 4 bangers for females depending on their confidence _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

Read your own post ---- I am not criticizing banshee’s – it just you where saying why cant Yamaha find a better or different name for each individual quad
All I am saying is if the name ant broke don’t try fixing it
You your self have brought a banshee and the banshee is a very out dated quad but has an awesome reputation so ppl keep buying them (sometimes I wish I did too)
Raptor is one of the highest selling sports quads for 2006 to 2007 so why confuse the customer with a new name _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

The Banshee
The bean-sidhe (woman of the fairy may be an ancestral spirit appointed to forewarn members of certain ancient Irish families of their time of death. According to tradition, the banshee can only cry for five major Irish families: the O'Neills, the O'Briens, the O'Connors, the O'Gradys and the Kavanaghs. Intermarriage??? has since extended this select list.
Whatever her origins, the banshee chiefly appears in one of three guises: a young woman, a stately matron or a raddled old hag (mine is currently in the old hag state). These represent the triple aspects of the Celtic goddess of war and death, namely Badhbh, Macha and Mor-Rioghain (Bluey, Macca and Mozza). She usually wears either a grey, hooded cloak or the winding sheet or grave robe of the unshriven dead. She may also appear as a washer-woman, and is seen apparently washing the blood stained clothes of those who are about to die (wide eyed lunatics riding banshees ?). In this guise she is known as the bean-nighe (washing woman)(wonder if really is blood stains maybe some other stains).
Although not always seen, her mourning call is heard (mine has FMF fattys...ain't that the truth), usually at night when someone is about to die (doesn't even have to be night just ask "stock as a rock") . In 1437, King James I of Scotland was approached by an Irish seeress or banshee who foretold his murder at the instigation of the Earl of Atholl. This is an example of the banshee in human form. There are records of several human banshees or prophetesses attending the great houses of Ireland and the courts of local Irish kings (although I've never been sounds like a weekend at the great dunes of Stocko). In some parts of Leinster, she is referred to as the bean chaointe (keening woman) whose wail can be so piercing that it shatters glass (again those FMF's). In Kerry, the keen is experienced as a "low, pleasant singing" (maybe Ferrets stock Shee); in Tyrone as "the sound of two boards being struck together" (thats just your goolies hitting your backbone); and on Rathlin Island as "a thin, screeching sound somewhere between the wail of a woman and the moan of an owl" (I've even heard one or two like that).
The banshee may also appear in a variety of other forms, such as that of a hooded crow, stoat, hare and weasel (now thats funny right there.......weasel ! Lmao) - animals associated in Ireland with witchcraft. _________________ 10 LTR 555 Dingo

They could stick with the bird theme and re-name the new blaster the "bush-turkey".
Silly lookin' stumpy gutless piece o' crap.

Yamaha got Raptor name from dinosaur Velociraptor - meaning swift thief.
Raptor 250 will fill the gap left by Blaster - riders too big for mini not big enough to throw full size quad around. Not much on market that size by way of sports quads. _________________ Raptor 700 |
