Hi.

I had Fox trackers, they were ok. I now have a set AXO short boots. They cover your ankle. not a full size boot. Very light and comfortable. perfect for a quad

Dave

I was looking at those, how are they working out. For those that havn't seen them they are for Pit Bike racers.

Hi.

They feel very light compared to a full size boot. you still need a good size sock with them. very comforable. I don't know why I waited so long to get them!! $295 at MCA at Parramatta

Theses boots don't have a little comfy thing inside them...they are a different boot

Regards
Dave

be carefull about what you read in magazines, 2006 manual of motor cycle sport,8.10.2.2 (page 119) refers only to Fast 50`s Quads on the other hand 13.1.1.1e (page 158) gives a specific instuction as to how the boot must fit

I haven't got the manual; does it say that the boot has to come up the shin a certain amount?.....

you would have to contact MA about that technicality but I would think that if your trousers rode up and exposed any part of your leg or rose above the level of the boot whilst on the machine you would be in contravention of the rule, but as I said check with MA

Like Smiffie Said
Those over boot pants are questionable along with the short boots. I raced an event and one bloke was told by the steward to tuck his "over pants" into his boots or they wouldn't let him race.

I think If your going to spend $$ on these things you should confirm that you will be able to use them for competition.

I'm not sure what the issue is anyway, been riding trikes and quads for years and any old MX boot has done the trick for me. Oh and WD40 works wonders if they are too stiff.

Are we being a bit lar-dee-dar about our boots here gents? Whats next? sheep skin underpants to protect your little bot bots

well technically you are spose to have jersey tucked in as well but how many do that at a race meeting?? smitty cant even tuck his ass in letherlone his jersy Smile hahaha sorry had to get one back on ya smitty haha

but honestly the boot rule is like the cutting down sock rule in afl at the moment getting very out of hand i think as long as your ankle is supported should be ok

as for no exposed leg why is that?? for fire protection or grazing? either i think would be effective anyway as nylon blows with fire and half the stuiff these days would tear up in a good smash anyway

just IMO

A jersey which must:
ii) Be snug fit and provide protection against abrasion to the body and arms.

Dosen't really say "by rights should be tucked in". But if there was a case where a wild "Builders Crack" was at large (AKA Smitty), then that could potentially lead to abrasion of a butt cheek. Then by all means it would have to be tucked away or overlapped/covered at all times.

In regard to the boots,

Footwear which must:
iii) Be of a length that must at least overlap the trousers with the rider in a racing position on the machine.

If you ride with those short boots and NEVER "un overlap" the trousers, IE expose skin/socks then you should have no problems racing with those boots. But I would say that at some stage during a race this would occur. The only way to prevent this would be to have long pants tucked into the boots. That would look real goofy with those short boots but would be quite legal according to the rules.

So if you want to test the rules then by all means....... er......
Fill yer boots.... Laughing Laughing

guys we are getting a bit carried away here, linc said he saw an ad for these boots saying MA approved which if he was racing Fast 50`s they would be MA approved but for Quads the rules (13.1.1.1E.1) state that"Be of recogonised motocross type" these boots clearly are not, as for the over boot trousers there is no rule one way or the other about there legallity or not (13.1.1.1.b) "trousers of leather or synthetic material of similar durability. Trousers of other than leather must be non combustable and be fitted with a non removable lining". That`s all the rule book says about pants But always be mindfull of the fact that if the rules don`t say you can do it , you most probably can`t and the officials will almost certainly follow that train of thought. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I want to buy these boots right:
http://shop.eatmydirt.com.au/product.asp?pID=122&cID=15

From EatMyDirt as they have them listed at a mega cheap price. But the bastards wont let me buy them Mad Mad Mad

When you click on the purchase button, there is no option to chose your size. So I sent the boys at EAT MY DIRT shop, an email and I get no responce. I send another email telling them how I want to buy from them and stillllll no responce. Anyone ever purchased from them??

Anyone know where else I can get these boots for similar price?

cheers,
ash

i have heard of intances of protest over the over boot pants issue before, but they have never gone past inital protest stage.

some officials cant read past the first 2 lines of the rules anyway so they'd never get through half of that Hughey.

Nationals scrutineer wont pass mini bike boots to race Motocross...

Also very strict on end caps on handle bars, Brakes, split pins or R Clips in hubs, nothing loose, make sure helmet is in good condition complete with Australian Standard sticker, and of course a working kill switch and nerf bars.
We had a scrutineer at an event checking your chain to make sure the joiner is the right way around !
Because we have a lot of 2 wheeler scrutineers its quite funny to see what they do to quads when they havent seen one before Smile
Recluse clutch always gets a giggle "you got no clutch mate??"
