anyone goin to the grass tree beach races near mackay on october the 7th?
its an awesome event pulls a huge crowd, and i hear that this year is the last.

I am considering running a truck up to Mackay from Brisbane on the Saturday returning on the Monday and may have a few spots available to any QQRA Members who want to fly up. Virgin has tickets available for $89 each way at the moment. All I ask is that you chip in for the fuel. Truck is a 8 pallet freezer pantech so the quads will be protected. I am pretty sure I can fit 6 quads and ???? 2 wheelers. Please let me know if your interested.

hey sorry for late reply guys but yeah looks like you found the info anyway!
it really is a great day, some wild rigs get on the beach, there was a turbo r1 once!
the really fast 450s (bikes) are running on a mix of methanol and nitro, its crazy stuff!
mick hansen who has been king of the beach 10 times or something was supposedly clocked at 240kph on his CR500 in the long race!
the quad class is usually hotly contested too.

Come on QQRA where is the riders, LB, JC, Huge, Pro, Mick, JS, AG etc, and the rest! This is a race where I might have half a chance of beating you lot!!!!!!!!! Ie: horsepower over skill  I have spoken to Mick from Mackay (won the last 5+ years CR500 2 wheeler) and he recons they always get soft Quad riders, how about we show them that 4 wheels are better than 2!!!!! Forget the riders skill, who can complete a barrel to barrel oval course in the least amount of time Sounds like fun to me.
By the way, apparently this is the last year so why not make an apperance!!!!!
Races are a 250m and 500m barrel race x 4 laps, I am not sure if we do the 750m race but we are not included in the "King of the Beach" race because the 2 wheelers are 2 scared to run with us!!!!

But unfortunately “A” being so close to Manar and “B” I will be in Sydney

yeah the quads do the 250m race, and do the 500m twice, instead of the 750m

yeah guys it is the last year but it has been running for 20 odd years.
cost around $40 to race, you can day licences. As for gear you just need the usual stuff. they usually get about 20 qauds racing and the distance
is 250 metres and 500 metres there are also a "profanity removed" load of 2 wheeler classes rangeing from 50cc up to 1000cc road bikes. Word of advice get there very early as the beach packs out quick with a couple thousand people |
