Highest speed on the 700 raptor?
Dunno, they are speed limited
Have been over 130 on the ol 660 and that's too fast on loose gravel....
Depends on the surface really and how much time you want off work I guess.... _________________ Andrew |

They wish, and so do I. I think 135 is probably closer to the mark- for me anyway. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

When i hit just over 130 on the raptor (trailtech endurance computer installed) it was only for a second and that was too fast for me, at that speed it was loose on the road and the slightest bump sent it to the other side of the track.... a guy I ride with occasionally says his 700 stops at the limiter, Think that's 150 but mine dosn't seem to get there,,,, good thing.....the timing gets retarded so it just bums out.... _________________ Andrew |

yeah brad I'll be there. hopefully if smitty reads this he'll be able to set us straight on his speed. I've never checked mine but I think about 85mph will pull the 450s up-could be wrong though _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

my best so far is 182kmph on gravel.
i will get some video footage of my on board gps next time i go out.
the yfz's geared for 230kmph at the revlimiter in 6th, but im not sure the I razors are strong enough.
might need motard tyres to test the top speed.
180 was very stable and suprisingly it happily stayed straight on the "driveway" gravel. i only backed of due to a corner.
i would rather test it out in a paddock where theres no trees or nasty gravel rash. |

OOOO, I thought we were talking quads not modified things,,,,, does that count.....
Just a quick question though,,,, why would you want to go that fast, most tracks I have been on have at least 1 corner or more... _________________ Andrew |

a ZX-10R....... holy poo
ive had my 2006 GSXR-1000 up to 296kp/h and that was bloody scary
i cant even begin to think how fun a rd bike engine would be in a quad _________________ You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?

ive had my yfz 450 bouncing off the limiter for about 1km.
it had a 15 tooth front sprocket and 20 inch rears.
i think it feels alot faster than what your actually doing
i dont reckon a stock geard raptor would do 130.....
i would have to be there to believe 165kmh |

There is a crew in melbourne that does modified Raptors by putting an R1 engine into it for you,, Again I ask WHY WHY WHY... _________________ Andrew |

i have had bikes all my life and ive allways out grown them.
you ride the bike for 2-3 months and you want more power.
so i built something that was overkill,
i dont need to use the power but its there if i want it.
it has a lower centre of gravity then the stock yfz450, so that may help at high speed but it also handles well around flat tracks or just huge paddocks.
look in the SA section if you want any info on it. |

Read the whole story and looked at the vids, good to see something done right and not just whacked in and held together with race tape and cable ties... 10/10 for the work you have put into it... _________________ Andrew |
