 |
|
Hey all.
I have been trying to teach my little brother how to hit berms, but I'm not very good at explaining things, so he still has no idea lol.
Anyone got any good tips or tricks on how to hit a berm?
And also on the topic of how to ride, what is the quickest way to hit whoops (mogles) on a quad? I ride on my mates track (all my mates have moto's) I can pretty easily stay infront of them for most parts of the track but they pull infront at the whoops. My approach is just to hold the throttle pinned and try and point the quad straight, but it doesn't always work to well lol. So any help would be great.
Cheers,

HAHAHA that's no problem mate. And yeah it's just a privatly owned jobbie. It's not that great, cause we made it with shovels over a year but it does the trick.
But it got partly washed when we had those big rains a couple of months ago, and hence the rather poor condition of the track. But it's still good fun.
But we are soon going to invest in an old bobcat so it should be getting alot better soon. _________________ <RIZ> |

How to attack a burm is a difficult one!! It all depends on what the corner looks like ...
But to start ... Just take the burm wide ... try hit is where it starts to rise ... then keep in the middle of the burm, as you go round. Do this with very little pace to start ... Just get used to "crusing" around the burm. Then slowly build up the pace.
The secret in a burm is to hit it hard and fast, if you use it correctly, you should loose a lot less speed that just going round a normal corner. It is a good place to overtake, and gain speed to overtake. Try not to overtake on the way into a burm, you will loose too much speed!!
Whoops ... you kinda got it. You must try keep the frount wheels up though ... so shift your weight more to the back ... pit it and hold on! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

Thanks Heaps for that mate. Will make my brother read that when he gets home. And as for the whoops advice I will try that this weekend. I figured that I needed to pull the front wheels up but never really tryed. I will give it a go though.
That will help if or more like when I start racing.
Cheers,

Righty. I will ask my mates about it, see if we have the money (probably not though as we are all pissheads) but you never know hahaha.
I would need suspension before a bobcat though hahaha. I will put it on my wish list though. Are you trying to sell it now or just getting flog it if you have the chance?
Cheers mate,
