Hi guys and gals,
As some of you know, my family and I are in the process of applying to live in Perth WA (yes ... little South Africa).
Now I have some questions, and cant seem to find answers on the internet ... but knowing these forums' and quadders in general ... I need look no further ...
SO please could you guys (and gals) answer the following questions for me ... there may be more to follow ...
1) Tax, GST or VAT
2) Tax % rate?
3) Is it included in prices, or does it still need to be added?
4) What is the Prime Minister's name?
5) What is the ruleing political pary?
6) What is their agenda? (Left wing - right wing etc)
7) Climate in Perth?
That is it for now ...
Thanks!! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

G'day What, (We like to abbreviate names in Oz),
1-G.S.T.
2-10%
3-It's illegal to advertise prices without the GST component included.
4-To be decided shortly, although the encumbent has a variety of names unsuitable for this forum,
5-As above, currently Liberal Party
6-Total Domination,
7-Don't know, gotta be better than Melbourne though.
Cheers & welcome to Oz. _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

4) What is the Prime Minister's name?... little johnny, for NOW
5) What is the ruleing political pary?... no matter who wins next, it'll still be a conseritive party.

Australia is run by the Liberal Party
but all the states are run by the other one.
John Howard is the priminister and has been for 10+ years ... not sure how long, we just put our head down and work paying taxes !
theres about 20 million people in Australia.
whats the population of South Africa?
climate in Perth
winter... max temps around 17-20 degrees
summer 30 - 42 degrees
this year weve been lucky enough to have alot of rain, its raining today and suppose to rain for another week !!!
The whole of Perth is within 1 hour of the beach, we live 5 mins from the beach.... {its important to be near water } we dont tend to populate inland, we just keep building along the coastline.
Perth is divided into North and South.... the Swan River runs through the middle of Perth and creates the seperation... we live South of the river... most South Africans live way up North of the River... Theres a freeway that runs the entire length of the city, from here in Rockingham{south} to Joondalup {north end} takes just a bit over an hour to get from one end to the other...
Our shops still close on Sundays, unless its a long weekend or school holidays, the only 24 hour shops are in service stations.
And most importantly, theres 2 tracks in Perth that accomodate Junior Quads, one north and one south. Most MX tracks shut over summer, due to dust and to give the committees a rest !
I cant think of anything else thats important?
oh fuel today is $1.29lt _________________ www.waquadmx.com |

W.A. also recently had there first summer of ,,,move your clock forward,,, daylight savings business....
.
confused the hell out of us
curtains faded
milk supplies ran dry
morning power walkers got lost in the dark
and then come autumn,,,we had to move the clock back again...
.
they're doing it again this summer.....and there's some stauncho country towns in W.A. that are just not participating..complete refusal to play with any clocks....and good on-em
which may just make them on er maybe um a South African timezone ...not too sure on that...
but i know if they gotta drive down to the city for work,,,they'll be 1.5 hrs late every mornin
.
.
wot suburb are you moving too?

Thanks Mrs_G ... you right ... It would be nice to live by the sea ... Johannesburg is about 6.5 hours from any sea ... and 1600meters up ...
As for which suburb ... if all the South Africans live North ... then the more south the better ...
One more question ... if I may.
8 ) Electrical plugs? 2-pin? Square pin? Round pin?
Thanks again for all the info ... quaddies ... I tell you we the best!!! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

Don't have none of that fancy electricity stuff here. We're not a rich country like those americans. Australia runs on gas...methane mainly. Or at least that the way it is in my house. And don't be expecting inside toilets..not for another 10 years at least. Don't have enough scientists here for that. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

I don't know what a "CHOP" is in Sth Africa, but here in Australia it is used as a term of endearment between two homosexual men. You will fit in well here in Perth. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Hi,
Just a short note from a ex South African fellow quaddie. Cut off all your South Africa plugs. Leave all your double adapators behind. They use a totally different system here. If you are a serious quad racer you will be very frustrated if you come to Western Australia. They are extremely " agter die tyer" here and have serious laid back attitude to doing business. No rush here. So if you are a true Joboggian you will get very frustrated trying to get anything here, as most of it has to come from Sydney and the Eastern States. Very similar to SA about ten years ago when we had to wait for everything to come from USA. They have also seemed to follow the USA model of law where everyone is to scared to break wind in case they get sued for polluting the atmosphere. So dont expect all the ride parks you had in and around Joburg. There are a couple of MX tracks and a couple of " designated areas" to ride recreationally and those are even under threat. The motorcycle dealers still have not caught onto the value of the Quad bike industry( they should take a trip to SA and check out the dealers to see that quads out sell two wheelers in every brand, sometimes as much as two to one), and therefore are not overly energetic to assist you.
But hey, you will survive because it is very safe here and you can buy more for 1 Aus$ than you can for 1ZAR.
PM me if you need any info! _________________ Its not if you win or lose but how you enjoyed the ride! |

Dude ... that cant be true!! To be honest, the tracks here are also getting kak ... Metro Police are confiscating quads on the spot on outrides (soft targets). Tracks like Wild Thing and ERORA are pritty much left alone, for now!

Hi Whatever
heads up on WA
Perth has good scene happening for family quaders - racing is still building
Outside Perth you'll find plenty of coast to ride + a few million sq ks of bush & desert riding
I order most of my bolt-on bits from a Legend Quad Services in Perth & only once have I had to get something ordered (took 5 days) every other time it was on their shelf.
don't know much about cobra 70s we mostly have dugites , tiger snakes & death adders in these parts so it's important to be in front as tiger snake roost is the worst kind.
also don,t know what the hell you & bigjon are talking about so maybe leave you keyboard with your power cords _________________ Raptor 700 |
