 |
|
Just curious on how everyone washes there bike, i picked up a nice trick the other day from a mate,
Although it might sound ridiculous, he uses OMO liquid laundry detergent mixed with water and spray it all over your bike, leave it sit for a little.
Then hose it off, no need for a pressure washer.
I was a sceptic to but i works awesome.
Anyone else got some tips etc?? |

OMO makes sense. That stuff is the best thing on air filters. They come up looking and smelling like brand-new. I've also heard Morning Fresh Dishwashing liquid is very good (but i havent tried it yet, coz i use Palmolive on the dishes).
My only concern with either of these would be potentially how harsh are they on graphics/plastics colors (especially screen-print stickers)? Remembering they are designed for use with boiled dyes and baked paints.
Many of the car washing detergents warn not to leave the chemical on for too long (never let it dry) and do it in the shade away from direct sunlight. Probably best to stick to those guidelines with the OMO as well. _________________ (PeteW's missus)

Keep in mind she is only 4 years old, so she doesnt do that good of a job. But then again I dont think she cares, so long as she gets paid lol _________________ Glenn

i just go to car lovers. But i found the best thing to do to make your fairing nice and shiny is get a rag and put clean engine oil on the rag and wipe it over. it make it so shiny and looking really good.
well on my bike anyway coz its black. _________________ bike 1 justin 0 |

Pressure washer (I know, I know, watch the bearings, etc.)
CT18, let sit overnight or as long as you can.
Wash off and chamois.
Then spray WD40 on everything (no, not brake pads and seat u idiot)
I thought the WD would attract sand, but it doesn't and mud seems to wash of it very easy. _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |

CT18 works great. My pressure washer has an attachment which lets me spray it on the bike. I find it removes all the baked on grime.
Once in awhile I will use a (can't remember the name) wax on my plastics. _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |

BIKEGEL
as most truck car washes damage shock seals and rubber seals
bike gel mixed with water in a garden spray sprayed on then washed off
makes plastics shine like new _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

I gave the diluted omo a go, and it works fantastically, didnt need to use the sponge, it all just rinsed off, I did use a low pressure washer, elcheapo brand, and this is the way I'll go from now on. 10/10 for a great tip, take a Gold star out of petty cash... _________________ 2005 KFX700

well if ya like racing in soup was great hahah
my mate with my banshee seized it and tania was getting bogged in 2nd moto on corners
pulled pin on 3rd moto like half the other classes
only 3 of us showed up ..... spent more time cleaning stuff when we got home then we did racing.... oh oldest son got 2nd in his class aswell
im still at a lose with how alot of guys spend so much on their quad then wash it with laundry detergent ... worries me what they use for there services and maintence lol _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

i honestly think that there are similar chemicals in all high powered cleaners, including bikegel.
all i'm sayin is it works a treat, havent had a drama yet, i only use it say once every 3-4 rides and give it a real good rinse off afterwards.
i think you will be suprised in the damage some muds can do to your seals/plastics/metal on your bike. |

How do you get Len P to wash your quad for you? I have not heard him called a diluted homo in years. |

you are right that different types of muds will affect our quads, just have a look on bare aluminium at all the streak marks, especially on the motor where the heat acts a catalyst in some cases
bikegel is probably the "safest" available IF you go by what is written on the bottles
also it all depends on how long we leave the stuff sit on the bike before rinsing, and if it dries or not, if it dries, a residue will be left
sounds like a good day Brad...40 mins on riding 4 hrs to clean up |

what do you mean by that comment? because i have Jon's muffler ?? or you meaning something else??
if it is Jons muffler actually i dont have the lte muffler of Jon's on there at moment have a gytr on it and i dont think i will be putting it back on as it has plenty of power with it but makes quad about 110db so bit over limit
also 700rappy mud u say i wash my quad after every race meeting and ride so i think mud would do less damage then beach sand would every 3 to 4 rides _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad
