I am looking for anyone who has any experience with conditional registration.
I have it on 2 of our quads. I thought I had some avenues of access but beurocrats find it easy to say no. So far no success.
If anyone has experiences with Cond Rego could you please e-mail me about it.
I know there are people out there in Qld getting legal access with it & I believe I can too. I just have to find out how.
It will be good for all of us if we can get legal access.

Peter

Thanks Calbren.
One of my mates is liasing with those guys. I think we have a lot to learn from them but we want as much info as we can get.
When we started out looking in to this we thought we could get access to a lot of the old mining roads around the backcountry behind Cairns. There are heaps of old gazetted roads & tracks that are 4 wheel drive only jobs.
Some of them would only see a car once in a blue moon. They see a few motorbikes though. Some registered & some not.
We are eventualy going to form a club to pool our resources & get some sort of legality in what we enjoy. With legality we could also get insurances going.
Untill we get insurances we are reluctant to get formalised into a club. None of us are knowlegable about the legal ramifications of a registered clubs office bearers & seeing as most of us own houses we could be sitting ducks if the "profanity removed" hits the fan.
For now the dozen or so of us just poke along as a group of mates.
Its OK at the moment but we think if we get all of this up & running we could make something realy great.

Peter

I have done much research on the subject and run conditional rego on both my bikes.

Essentially it is only of benefit if you are doing organised trail rides where they demand u have cond reg before u can join their ride. Although in saying that Aussie quad adventures let us ride withouth them at the last event.

What they are actually for is farmers and the like who need to cross / use public roads to get from and to their paddocks and or distant parts of their farms.
There is no rego that will give u access to anywhere specific. I have spoken with local rangers who have made the comment that they allow u to ride the access roads of state forests etc similar to any other reg vehicle. As the signs say at the enterance to these forests , "bikes , 4wds must stick to access roads. "

So in essence they are no good , but do give u some form of public liability cover so I still think they are cheap insurance should u hit a rolls royce or range rover crossing a forest access road.

Funny thing was , they were more use to me down at stockton beach last week , with my rego all i had to do was buy a three day beach permit and i could ride stockton legally for the three days.

Hope that helps you all.

I started to get into this and found that ray from aussie quad was way ahead and had the most knowledge as to where the process is at to make it more than just what prokiwi has written above, It seems to be a long and drawn out process to get anything done in this state.

As far as a club is concerned you guys might want to form a local branch of the qqra (I'm no spokesman for the qqra, please contact them b4 considering this).
