hey i recenlt got my 400ex biult to a 440ex with a 450r and i am havinbg sum jetting troubles.

when its sitting there on idel and when i punch the throtle it just dies, but when i give it a bit then give it full it gose fine. i think it might be a tad bit rich 4 the bottom

Most Honda TRX will flat spot just sitin there stabbing the throttle,does it flat spot when riding it ?

just having trouble working out your set up there grant, do you have the stock 400EX carb or a later model 450 one? if its the older style carb then when you open the throttle quickly from idle it cant keep up with the throttle opening, if its the later model one the it is dumping too much fuel in too quickly. let us know which carb and what jets and needle are in it.

i got a 05 450r carb on it. my jeting is. needle 4th from top. 180 main, 48 pilot, and air fuel mixture screw 2 3/4.

try turning the fuel screw in a little, about a 1/4 turn at a time to see if you can feel the difference.
