To All......

Heal guards, nerfs, what ever, if it is to do with safety it should be on....

Safety at any event is every ones resposability.....The sport is full of what if's and buts and maybe's.. And being big headed it wont happen to me attitude puts a bad taste on the sport no wonder promotors and other bike parks hate quads it will be the death of us all.

Your foot gets draged rips you of the bike the bike behind hits you, he flips your both never walk again....Think about it...

Why did they intro. nerfs bars and safety lanyards.....becuse of the risk....and the safety to others.

Pete is correct. Dealing local is the way to go. I bought an axle years ago ( before there were any decent local suppliers ) and bent it. Warranty was simple, send it back to the USA for repair or replacement at my freight cost! Now I simply deal with people within easy reach. This works great for warranty claims and as you build a relation, the service gets better.

We dont have bike parks in WA, so you cant be talking about WA. Half of the promoting committing that run events in WA are Quad people... I'll sit with beech on this one, what promoters and ride parks are we talking about here, that hate quads?

This is true! If we like it or not its probably not the first time its happened and could quite easily happen again. The strapped heel guards sound flexible and easy enough to manufacture and local distribution would be preffered by most and if it "was" phased in over several years as a rule it would probably benefit the rider more than hinder. If designed and manufactured correctly i don't see it as a problem! Cool

Yeah my brother found the same thing. He ended up just buying a new one coz it was cheaper.

But beyond just the service issue, one of the most basic principles of a self supporting economy is "buy local". Yeah you can find a bargain on ebay and even with freight costs you might save up to 50%. BUT the savings are only short term. As more business goes overseas, more locals suffer from the lack of business. This means they have to put their prices UP simply to survive! This isn't greed. It is basic math. This is a nationwide problem - not just in the motorcycling industry but almost every industry in Australia. The only way to fix it is to support each other. Buy Australian - especially Australian made and Australian owned. It really is important.

And by the way... by our local Aussie importers and retailers advertising in "glossy magazines" our own ATV Action mag is able to keep going. Without the support from advertising, we'd still only have those yanky mags to get us by.

You have hit the nail on the head. We should all realize when buying "Local" we are directly helping" Locals".

Fair point Pete, plus don't forget that these accessory suppliers also sponsor Aussie quad riders across the country. Let's face it, the more we support them and the bigger they get, the more they will support the industry. I know QuadridersSA would be stuffed without the support of companies like these sponsoring our riders and events. Next we will be bagging Honda, Yamaha, Polaris and the other manufacturers for not supporting us more, but let's not forget, we are still a pretty small sport, and I know these guys give much more sponsorship to us than we warrant because they can see the potential and we support them with our un-dying brand loyalty. Let's support the entire industry, from the riders and spectators right up to the manufacturers and accessory importers, so they can support us more in the long run. We're only seeing the tip of the iceberg. I think some of us really need to stand back and look at if we are supporting them, then re-evaluate if they should be supporting us more....Sorry, but I work pretty closely with these guy's getting sponsorship for our club and riders, and I know how much they really do support us when we show our support for them. Believe me, we get a fair bit of support that should be going to 2 wheeler riders, clubs and events.

The big problem I feel with the local manufacturers is they are far and few between, and excuse my ignorance but apart from b&b in ballarat, processwest in nsw, who in Aust makes bits and pieces for quads, the real big dollar items likes shocks are the domain of the US companys, who here would buy from the "yogie shocker company of Geelong" not too many I would imagine. What I would like to see is the likes of proccess west have their goods on the shelves of Hardiman, southerncross, austrico so we have a choice. Another thing that I feel would be a great idea is a sticky thread here of "mods" done by guys here, prefably bits and pieces MADE by us for us. That way when I see the gizzmobitthingy made by joe blow I think I gotta have me one of those, and how many bussisness have started out by that ?, jsut about every one of them did.
I personally know of one chap in the Vic club who has made all these bits and pieces for his polaris and a certain ex gasgas, So it is being done.

And I know that personally I want to design a sort of enclosure for the DS batteries, because I think their batteries are to eposed to the elements, cold being the big killer for these, and thats why every bomber I have ever come across has real bad starting problems. So there we go, lets do it.

disclaimer: any points made here that are wrong, is due to me not knowing any better, so there... Razz

Ya gotta realise that in order for a manufacturer to produce a product at a price that can be picked up by an aussie distributor and resold at a fair price, it has to be produced on a large scale to be cost effective. I'm sure that the aussie distributors would be selling more aussie products if the quality was as good as the imported stuff and if the price was comparable. When you start to quote companies like Process West and the Aussie ATV parts distributors, have you considered all of these points? Maybe you have, but let's not condem those we are trying to get to support the industry before we know the full story, Hey? By the way Yogie, sorry to be picky, but I support the Aussie distributors as well, and they are Southern Quads and Austraco....but you already knew that!

But if we don't support the aussie importers now, they will never get big enough to give enough back......you know what I mean?

yeah and I do have a preference of an importer, no matter how hard he tries to scare away his customers, you know who you are... Surprised
And in fairness to my pocket of $$ I dont get huge discounts, and I'm not saying you do,okay. but it does happen, and till it happens with me I'll spread my $$ around.

So whens the sa web site going to back up. Apart from the Qrcv I actully checked that out quite regulary.nAnd when are you hitting Vic? wanna get my head on your videos... Smile

Dualroost.com (the SA club site) is suffering from a severe case of "nobody want's to do it" syndrome. We wll get there.
I want to organise a ride with a few of my guy's to come up with you nut case victorians in the high country. Some snow would be nice. What have you got for us?
Mick@47
P.S. Thumbpump is now available!

Sounds Like a Dargo ride is needed, what a great ride that was last year, would of liked to go a little earlier in the year, or not so late. all those river crossings were gr8t. I'd be in that again.

Shane at Hardiman ATV will have the first of the wholesale copies on Wednesday. He is selling them for the same price as us...$29.95.
Give him a call on 02 4353 3622 and order one before he sells out of his first batch.
Yogie, sounds great. Give me an idea of your ideal timing and we will make it happen. I have just ordered an under water housing for one of my 2 new high definition cameras, so we can get creative with the river crossings. The posibilities are endless.
