 |

Hi guys,
I have owned a Kfx 700 for the past 5 months, good bike but i am having problems with the thumb throttle, well not problems, I think my thumb is the problem. Anyway i find after riding for an hour or so my thumb starts to seize up. I would like to know if anyone has had the same or similer problem and the how to fix? I find that there is too much travel in the trottle and it is tighter that normal or has more resistance than other throttles.
Do i just have to play alot of thumb wrestling???
Is there a way i can alter the throttle?
Is that dangerous?
Can i experiment with throttles off other bikes if so do any others fit?
Or do i change to a twist?
Its all to confusing for me |

Many YFZ riders suffer from the problem and change throttles to a honda thumb throttle which seems to work better. If you have a two wheeler background i'd be giving a twist a try _________________ Smitty |

Hi Hulk, you might remember me I meet you at the dunes over the long weekend I ride a Raptor SE ( orange and black) if you remember my partner rides a KFX 700 and due to a previouse accident she has had surgery on her thumb so finds a thumb throttle hard to handle after 15 min. You could try other thumb throttles but the best fix is to but a Terry Cable thumb/hand throttle thay are available from Hardiman bolt straight up to then KFX and are excellent thay are well made but a bit pricy at $300.00 but well woth it thay have an excellent action and you can lock out the hand and just use the thumb which has a very short throw. My partner swears by them and has never looked back after buying one.

i used to cop all the pain and locking up of the thumb.. but now for somereason it doesnt happen .. maybe i got used to it or maybe i dont ride as hard as i once did and therefore dont experience such displeasures any more, stick in there all pain eventually goes away and if not there is always beer _________________ getting your quad around just got a whole lot easier www.ozcustomquadcarriers.com.au |

| never had a drama myself, might be worth extending the original lever or replacing it with a longer one off another bike, ive heard of some people replaceing springs in the carby and throttle assy but have always considered this a little risky, may get stuck at WOT |

Hay all you YFZ owners you can buy a spring for your carbie which greatly reduces the effort at your thumb throttle. I think its $45.00 from Rat Motorsports.

| Well when i first got on the green machine the thumb throbbed but it is also a good indicator of when it s time for a coffe break or piss stop !! But after more riding i suppose i rode it out now the only trouble if trying too feel the arms when the fingers go numb after repetative laps at oran park Dont know if i will ride enough too ride that one out but hey i know the feeling but believe if it aint broke dont try and fix it... Cheers. |
