Thanks all, for the congrats.

Now, if I can only find another 4 phsyco Jumbos for Finke 2008...
I might be able to win a class.

Good atributes are being generally light weight but having a really heavy right thumb.

I think you'll need to talk to the Finke committee about that before to get to over excited

Yeah, and surely it would take a while to get approved? I would assume planning is already underway for next years' event. Could be a while before you see a Jumbo class. Nothin' but respect here for you Bullet, but how did you manage to not get run over?

Not getting run over is not as big a problem as you might think Blaster Babe.
I was impressed with how "safe" an event the Finke is for slower riders.

When you Pro-log, The slower riders are usually left behind by the first corner.
After you Pr-log, you start day one of the Finke Desert Race by your Pro-log time...
So theoretically you should have faster riders in front of you and only slower riders behind you. (There are some exceptions with breakdowns in Pro-log etc).

But it reall does work well.

I have about 7 in the row I started in (secont to last) and there was only about 5 behind me.
The 7 I was with all got me off the line and I overtook 2 back before we left the Pro-log track gates across the desert.

So at the back it is quite easy to have an idea of what might be behind you.

Day 2, I was last row as any one slower than me either DNF'd the previous day or could not get out of bed to start.
So I did'nt see another bike all day (except for about 20 breakdowns or crashes.

I tell you what though, You don't want to be running slow up the front for any reason.

I'll second that! Try sitting around 40-50 outright doing about 30kp/h stuggling to hold the quad in a stright line because of the flat rear and two wheelers passing you at around 150kp/h

Thanks Froggy

Yeah I might have even put 3 behind me before we got off the pro-log track. but it didn't stay that way.

Note the finishing shots. For most... the Finke is a daytime race???

I like the 5th photo. Check out the sign in the background.
It looks like a bunch of blokes competing in the 'Alice Springs Correctional Centre Annual Fun Run'.

I'll grab a copy of some of those off you later.

thanks mate
