I'f your riding around on YFZ450s she may feel a bit nerdy on a scrambler.

I think they would make an Ideal machine for a newcomer to the sport but they don't have the same image as 450 race quads, or raptors for that matter.

The engine cases are quite wide. If she is short that may be an issue.

They go fine and are nice and stable with fairly plush suspension. In the tight stuff she may even show you up!!!!! Surprised

Have you considered, a Blaster or Raptor 350, or even 400ex or Z400. Clutches aint that hard to get used to. TRX250's aren't bad little rigs either, but again your getting into the world of sensible and not cool!

As you may have guessed, my wife wouldn't settle for anything less than a raptor type machine. Dosent matter that the quad probably struggles to get out of third gear its the look that counts, and it gets her out there so I'm not complaining

I ride one...

yes I am a girl

it's great!

I ride it in the thumpers series - natural terrian races, motox at Katherine NT, pony express endros and the Kamfari. The Kamfari is run once a year in the swamps near darwin. - check out the current issues of adb, dirt action and atv action. She has done 2 kamfaris and I am just replacing the original chain and spockets now so over 18mths out of those. I do go through belts and brake pads (i am pretty hard on my gear) however these items are very reasonably priced on ebay.com For Kamfari I run mags and ITP mud tyres - but ground clearance is a limitation i have to work around as the kwqa 750 and canams and grizz with huge tryes leave trenches you can swing a cat in. Check www.darwinmotorcycleclub.org for more detail

Am looking at Hatata on it next month

It's heaps lighter than the sportsmans etc thus I can throw it around more than the heavier 4x4 quads.

she does around 95km/hr top speed.

I took the stupid insect lights off it as i'm never on it in the dark anyway.

She is a verstile quad and can go anywhere (sort of).

Barry Ashenhurst did a feature in Atv Action after seeing our proform in the Kamfari 2006.

The suspension is not the greatest but the transmission makes up for it. I hate motox on a geared bike as I am always in the wrong gear and waste the opportunities to gain ground on the race quads. No it does not beat the racers as I am not as good a jockey as they are. But sometimes I think I have more fun.

I am going to get her some fasst flexx bars and play with the spocket sizes just to reduce belt pinch in the kamfari next year

The polaris bikes tend to have more female friendly seats - in my opinion. And after 4 kids thats important to me. nothing worse than walking like a cowboy after a ride.

I had a banshee but the scambler is heaps better as the power band is more even. I nearly stacked the banshee every time i rode it - very embrassing especially when the carbi slides jammed open and i flew over a boom in front of 10000 people...

I have tried the Canams but am worried about the thickness of the sub frame - The 750 canam has heaps of grunt - wheel stand from stop. - i like that! The powerband of the canams tends to throw me around in stead of the other way around - however they appear to be good.
