raptor 250 is air/oil cooled so they haven't just used the YZ/WR-F 250 4 stroke powerplant. It will be interesting to see how it goes, probably not the junior racer everyone was hoping for.

Engine out of the TT-R230......so I'm told.

Suzi will be releasing a LTR250.........I believe that is the model all the juniors are waiting for.

yeah looks like the same base motor
bigger bore and a true 249cc plus gear box is different
.
they're are not gunna have the HP and rev through double over head cam type 250F power

but there's a bit you can do too make these breath and go a little harder

wonder if Zook put the DRZ air cooled into their Junior 250 Quadracer Cool

HHhhhmmmm

looks like a slightly different version of the good old air cooled 2 valver Yamaha have used for years. Going on past history, it will probably have around 20 engine ponies [ not around the 40 the YZF 250 has ] Chassis looks good though, bit more suspension travel might be handy. Pity Yamaha havent told any of the dealers here in OZ yet !!! typical, we are always last to know !!

Raptor 250, cool idea. too bad they put a plonker motor into it. Great starter machine but no YZ250F equivilent is it.

Maybe they might still come out with a YFZ250 but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

Missed your chance Yamaha! Can anyone say market research.....

talking to Yamaha Oz reps today, dont think there will be any other model 250 [ YZF motor version ] in the near future. but you just never know. Lets hope Suzuki will have a go at a RMZ engined LTR. Could also make a good class for seniors MX as well as juniors.

I've been waiting for this cause i'm buying '08. But i'm real disappointed, yamaha needed to bring something out of the bag. Like EFI. Has anyone heard bout the suzuki '08, thats my second choice.

Hey Everyone!
Yamaha wasn't happy with their new raptor 250 and took it in to be redesigned!
This is what they came up with!

HAH! I wish!

I got bored and this is how i believe the new 250 should have been released.
I do realise this is a bit rough, but i did complete it in a total of one hour.
With breaks of course.

Enjoy.

Luke.

You nailed that in one go Luke.

Too bad Yamaha are too gutless to have a crack at it themselves.

Loosing out on a lot of cash if you ask me. I'd buy one for my wife (an me) in a shot.

All they have to do is put in milder cam timming and cork it up a bit for the beginers. That way the racers have something to work with.

Bloody plonker air cooled 250 donk is Yesterdays Hero if you ask me. Great for an ag quad.

I'd be a bit less scathing if they had an air cooled Raptor 250 and a liquid cooled YFZ250. But they don't

I really dont get why the manufacturers are so scared of putting something decent in a quad frame. Surely a YZ250F is more lethal in a light 2-wheeler frame than it is in a quad?? So whats the diff?? Mad

The Blaster has been the only thing to make me stray from Honda. I was excited about the prospect of a YFZ250, but once again THEY COMPLETELY COCKED IT UP!! Years of speculation and hoping, all for another bloody big let down.

And its ugly too.

Pfft. Now i'm in a bad mood...

pity yamaha dont' make any good aftermarket parts cos they seem to keep bringing out quads that need them, If your gonna re-design your entry level/junior quad why not put some acual development into it instead of just putting a new swing arm and plastics on a blaster frame.

front looks similar, but it's not a Blaster Frame

and at least it hasn't got da 250EX shaft drive

maybe they are trying to reduce the HP like what going to happen with our 2 wheeled brothers
apparently Bubba's the only one that can handle a 4fiddy
http://www.youthstream.org/default.aspx?cs=8&type=news&id=1482

.
.
If Zooki's come out with a RM-Z250 in an LTR-ish frame it gunna be a marketing Joke
.
they've been told
tone-it down,,,,bet-ya

Yeah its definately a totally new frame. And its apparently a full size not a 3/4 like the old Blaster.

Just found this "First look" article on ATVscene...

http://atvscene.com/machines/yamaha/raptor250-08.html

I still think its bloody ugly, and wont be as fast as the old one.
Not happy Jan.

Lighter than a blaster, 5 speed manual, looks like a YFZ/Raptor, eccentric chain adjuster, wide racing pegs, and YFZ450 Brakes.

Despite a plonker motor Its got some things going for it. I reckon it may even give a standard blaster a run for its money. I reckon I'd buy one for my wife.

But, and this is a big but. A quad tuned YZ250F motor should have been in it, along with being wider, and canister front shocks. Period!

Even still, Bullet could move up to the 250 class for next year.......
