he said quick and easy Lennny Pinthetailonthedonkey. not pull the engine down and start again.

the jury is still out on high comps for the LTR's as far as I'm concerned, some are doing it and some aren't down here with mixed results so far....

Just finished a LTR...goes like stink.

IMO;.....get a slip-on exhaust & a PowerCommander ECU. $1000.

The PC will be compatible with any mods you do in the future, you can also down load the map for the exhaust you purchase so a Dyno will not be needed untill you do more mods.........quick, easy and a huge performance improvement.

Hey Pete ,
Pulling the engine down is easy ,for me anyway Laughing Razz
More compression in my book is the very first thing to be done as it gives more power everywhere ( Then engine should be ok for about 12.5 to 1 on our Pump gas 98 . An engine is an engine and they all respond well to more compression ,Its finding the Combination that works that can be tricky .
A Power comander for sure as to get the mixtutres right and just like jetting for a Carby ,free flowing exhaust with the intake breathing easy . Then its the combination of all these items with a good ignition map to suit .
Dee Mancheck (John Natali's Engine builder)are putting out about 60 plus HP (The Right power for MX ,if your fit !) with the zook and arent having any mixed results with high compression . DASA is the same and as far as I am concerned these guys are some of the best and fastest engine builders in the world. So Im not going to argue with them Hrm
But hey if you dont want to pull it down ,Linc is on the money.

did u get a full system or just a muffler and i was ridin today and i think i might as well pay of credit card and just do both things
what did u do with gearing i now it will differ from track to track but i get about 115kmh out mine (dont ask how i know lol) but obviously u dont need that on mx only enduro so i was thinkin standard gearing is fine

We got a full system and did some other stuff as well. The stock can on the LTR is very restrictive; take a look down it and you will se a bunch of welded in baffles....not good.

A slip-on will give you the most bang for your buck.....a PowerCommander will tune the bike to perfection. IMO get the headder pipe and a high comp piston as Stage-2. I've seen dyno's where the slip-on made more power than a full system if no other upgrades were done.

i dropped mine down to a 13 tooth and i love it.
i get around 92km/h in a staight line now, didn't need the 111km/hr that it did before. the 13 isn't for everyone, but i wouldn't go past it for mx.

God your full of "profanity removed" Len your aways comparing us to the US! But its a whole diffrent kettle of fish down here WE CAN'T USE THE RACE FUEL THAT THEY DO!!!! They run around 14:1 over there we can only run about 12.5:1 / 13:1 with our fuel so why keep comparing them to us?

V8toy the best thing you can do to an LT-R is stick a slip on pipe on it and then go from there when your ready.

I prefer stock gearing for MX. Maybe a 13 on a real tight track

well said. I find 13t to low for getting of the line well enough. plus when hitting a good size jump with a 13 you are trying to ping it in third or slog it in 4th were stock seems to be right for me.

Hey V8 toy that jump sounds awsome ,show us some pics dood!
Smitty: I understand the American difference ,but the engine mods to get power are the same ,its just the combinations that are different to suit the compression. Mate I would have though you of all people would realize the yanks are ahead of the game in MX engine building and all engine builders in OZ get there information from them .JMHO .
Hope you go well at finke ! Wink
