Which action camera do you use for your quad? I'm looking at buying one to mount on my helmet and I'm a little bit lost for choice. I've seen the go pro's but I'm a little hesitant about spending that much money on a camera. Any other alternatives?

I have a gopro Hero 3 white and love it! I can use it anywhere and have had no problems!
Go to the bottom of this page http://shop.gopro.com/cameras $130 or is that still to much?

Hey I checked it out. Where is $130 ? The cheapest one on the site was $179.
How long does your battery last for? And also, how many hours of riding will your gopro record?

I've got a GoPro Hero 2. I'm not really happy with it. It's useless in low light, the image quality has really gone down the toilet as it's got older and it wasn't great to start off with.
My cheapo phone takes better photos.
I get a bit over 2 hours of recording out of it. |

Oh it was $130 for the Christmas sale now its back I thought the sale lasted longer? fully charged mine lasted for 7 hours 13 minutes......if you film on high it is really good quality and my gopro takes very good photos! they have come along way but even the gopro hero (1st one) wasn't bad but the new ones are really good!!

Thanks for that. It seems there's conflicting opinions about it. I don't really go riding at low light, but then again, it would be pretty cool to have a camera for night riding!
I'm going to keep shopping and see what I come up with.

just get the largest memory card you can and you will be able to record for a long time and buy and extra battery and carry it with if you are going to be recording more than say 7-8 hrs!

dont waste your time on the 4. get a 3 with a decent memory card. Will do 4k like the 4 but with a lower frame rate. I know i never have used anything other than 1080 or 720p in 120fps.
everything else is a waste unless doing 3d etc. Save some coin and get the 3 but thats just my opinion |

I went with the wifi edition because i needed it in a hurry for something else this weekend, but otherwise I could have saved at least $40 if I paid the non wifi version and bought it from overseas.

For those looking for an even better bargain, I found out Kmart has some cameras on clearance that look like the Sony AS20 camera for $40. Kmart at Parramatta Westfields has about 5 or 6 left as of this afternoon. I also picked up one of them as well so I'll let you know which one I rate better.
