 |
|
I have an Atomik Agmax500 with a CFMoto 500cc with CVT transmission running to L H N R selector.
I can run through the selector from R N H no problems and you can hear the click as it seats, but sometimes it won't seat in to L, it's like it almost gets in to gear. Then if you move off with acceleration, you can hear a loud clunk as it seats in to LOW. Is this normal? or should you be able to shift to low gear from neutral and the gear should seat without having to feather the accelerator to seat the LOW gear?
I have tried it with the rear wheels off the ground with the engine off. If the shifter doesn't seat in to LOW, I can turn the rear wheel by hand a small amount and then try shifting again to LOW and it will seat. It doesn't seem normal to me.
The utv is still under warranty, but Atomik tell me it's normal to feather the accelerator when changing between each gear. (So when changing from N to L: N - feather - H - feather - L feather until it seats, then accelerate to move off) Do you think they are trying to get out of fixing this under warranty? or does that sound normal?
The unit was assembled by Atomik at additional charge before I took delivery. It's only got 55km on the clock.
Unfortunately I don't have another UTV or know anyone with a similar set up that I can compare with. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.
Other than that it's a pretty good machine, It had an idling problem from the start, so couldn't change gears because it was idling at about 2500rpm and wouldn't come back to normal idle for a few minutes sometimes (or not at all, requiring switch off, then restart) Atomik fixed this under warranty, as well as the clutch which had worn out from slipping at the high idle for long periods. |

An adjustment to the cable or linkages should fix that.
Should be fixed under warranty. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Thanks for the reply Dino.
I should have mentioned in the first post I removed the linkage when I had the rear wheels off the ground and was shifting with just the selector. It had the same problem.
I'm guessing that damage has been done. Atomik might have tried adjusting the linkage position when I had it in for warranty the first time, found that it's more than that, so have fed me the "feather it until it seats" line, to get me past the warranty time. Just speculation on my part.
It's not normal is it? You should be able to select LOW and move off without having to dance with the go pedal yeah? |

Pretty much mate.
Internal shifters can get bent by forcing them.
Good luck with the Atomic agents. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
