Hi everyone!
On a recent trip to the US, I was made aware of the ReadyRamp product; the combination of a quality motorcycle ramp and a ute tray extender.

Seeing the opportunity to introduce this revolutionary product into Australia, I organised the sole distribution rights, and am just about to begin importing.

Before I 'hit the go button' I was hoping you all could help me gain a little insight into the ATV market (must admit that I'm more of a two wheeler kinda guy!)

Check out my website at www.readyramp.com.au and let me know what you think! It appears to me that it could be just the ticket for getting an ATV about. Is this something that you might use?

Cheers
Geoff

the rpoblem i see with this for the quad market is where do you put the second one. also, many quads dont fit in the width of a well body ute

G'day guys,
Greatly appreciate the feedback.

Aussie Mick - I'm really glad you brought this up. The topic of legal compliance is one that I've obviously been very interested in since seeing this product, and I'm glad to say that the answer is yes....but with a few caveats Rolls eyes .

I have looked into the ADR's and state government rules and have summarised the relevant ones below.

Firstly, the vehicle rear over hang (ROH) can't be more than 60% of the wheelbase (or 3.7m whichever is the lesser) so on a vehicle like a Nissan Navara D40 with a 3200mm wheelbase, the ROH can't be greater than 1920mm. In the Navaras case, with the tailgate down, the ROH is 1790mm, so isn't an issue. This is just one example of many that i have measured, and I haven't found an issue yet...having said that, it's worth checking out your own vehicle.

Next is licence plate visibility. As anyone who has a bicycle rack should know, you will need to provide a supplemental licence plate (or the vehicle one just re-fitted) somewhere where the viewing angle extends upward to 45deg from the horizontal (read:where the overhead gantry speed cameras can get a good view and ensure the government have a steady income Evil or Very Mad ). Again this will largely depend on what sort of vehicle you're mounting it too, but generally speaking it means you'll have to use a supplemental licence plate on the rear of the vehicle, or on the ramp itself.

The last one, which the state authorities don't seem to really care about, but to be absolutely in line with the letter of the law, is lighting. Again, just like with a bicycle rack, you are to ensure that all the rear lights are 'unobstructed', generally from a 45deg angle (there's a diagram, which I won't even try to explain) and that the number plate is lit also.

Because this may be a potential sore point for some, I've done my best to research and offer a solution which is not only compliant, but also relatively good value. The Rhino-Rack offering (http://www.rhinorack.com.au/products/bike-carriers/accessories/number-plate-holder_rbca011#dnFeatures) is probably the best off the shelf solution, but I am working on a specific ReadyRamp version which I hope will be a far more appealing product. Equally, if you have some trailer lights kicking about, and a bit of electrical know-how, I'm sure you could work something out also.

I have all the relevant ADRs and state authority requirements which I can send to people if they're interested... Just PM me.

Thanks again for the feedback...keep it coming!

Hey JimmyO,
I agree that the ReadyRamp is really designed around a single track vehicle, however as it folds down to a very manageable 1170mm, the second one will easily stow within the cabin, or in the tray for that matter, when on the move.

As for the size issue, I just did some quick research, so pardon my ignorance if I've missed something, but the Honda TRX250X (just as an example) has a width of 1062mm, so there would appear to be quite a number of vehicle which will take this between the wheel arches (in particular, I've measured Amarok at 1222mm, Navara D40 at 1130mm, New Colarado at 1122 and Ford Ranger at 1139mm)

As for length, none of these gets even close to the TRX's 1739mm without the tailgate down...but with the ReadyRamp installed they all easily gobble it up. laughing

You can check out the website for more specifications around individual vehicles, and the length improvements you could see from using a ReadyRamp. Or just drop me a post and let me know your specific vehicle.

Cheers

Thanks driftingbanshee for the feedback. I assume that most people will be fine with the concept, especially if they're able to get some lighting worked out. Fact is that there are a lot of people out there doing it already; the ReadyRamp offers a more storage effective and safer solution.

Can I ask how you go currently with putting the ATV in the back? Questions like 'where do you put jerry cans' and 'where do you put your muddy gear' and 'how safe is your current arrangement for loading' and 'where do you store your ramps during transport' all spring to mind...

Cheers

Hey mate,

i load my quad with 2 foldable ramps. I them store them and tie them inside the tray above the wheel arch on each side. Then strap them in. As i now have XFR nerfs i have no room to store the jerry can however this could also be strapped in up towards the front of the bike.

as for gear and what not i have a dual cab (with rear seats removed) so i have plenty of space inside if i need.

Given the size difference between single rear wheel and twins of the quad, this system you are saying will still not leave huge amounts of space for storage.

the below pic is with the quad shifted slightly left to fit the jerry can in. This is no longer the case due to the nerfs. Hope this helps

Hi again,
Just wanted to let everyone know that both Black and Silver ramps are now in stock, and ready for immediate dispatch. Courier times are about 1-2 days for most places, meaning that with a bit of luck it'll be there for your big weekend away!

Check out some new Youtube clips I've recently (ratherly dubiously!) pulled together

My quad fits in the back and I use a set of ramps rated at 340 kg per ramp purchased from autobarn , they fold in half

Nice Setup! Am I seeing correctly that you still need to have the tailgate down slightly? I would have thought the Ram would have been long enough?

Thanks for sharing the photos!

Yes the tailgate is open slightly as the ram has the 6'4" bed which is the short bed , they are a nice looking ramp that you have

There are some people that just don't need a ReadyRamp to transport their ATV's...

Might be a safer/easier alternative though! laughing

my trx700xx fits into the back of my 2005 vz commodore ute with the tailgate shut. I make (made in aus)folding alloy ramps (you need 2)and they were a lot less than about $800 a pair,so I'm fine thanks.I also made some blocks that screw onto the tailgate so the ramps drop in and can't slip out when I ride it on.

We must be brothers from another mother Gaz. My 700xx fits in the back of my BA RTV ute with the tailgate up & I drilled a coupla holes to secure the ramps also (alloy fold up type with pins added to locate in holes). You only do that flick out thing once if you got any brains.

Hey guys,
Well, to say that initial sales in the first few months have been over whelming, would be an understatement!
There are still a few left, so feel free to jump at those, however the next shipment will be due in a couple of months time....just in time for the Moto Expo in Melbourne! Come along and say hello!

Cheers
Geoff
