Is anyone familiar with htis quad that can suggest where to start looking?
Plug is fine. Battery is fine.
This quad has been dying for a while now. It's losing compression & uses a lot of oil. At high RPM/full throttle it coughs & farts, especially over bumpy surfaces. I put it down to dirt in the carb but now I'm wondering if it's electrical.
I pulled the plug & held it against the motor to test it & when i did this, something shorted out & sparked near the battery. After that it wouldn't crank over. I disconnected battery & reconnected & now it cranks but no spark.
I have tested the plug in my Husqvarna & it's fine. I also tried a good plug in the TRX & nothing.
I'm going to rebuild this motor but regardless of this it needs a spark.
I don't know where to start. It could be anything from a broken wire to faulty ign module, kill switch, coil, lead, magneto, stator, bad earth etc
Any help appreciated |

process of elimination. by pass the ignition module and see if it cranks. Its unlikely to be this however
check the coil, magneto and stator as a first point as its not likely to be the lead. As its an easy thing to replace however it may pay to replace that first |
