An article was written in this paper calling for the banning of kids under 16 riding quads . I think the high number of cheap quad bikes on the market is inflating the injury rate with children.while i feel sorry for kids injured it is disappointing that parents are not providing adequate safety instructions or they think their children's ability is far greater than it is.i have noticed alot of parents upgrading kids to faster quads after a very short time frame.the best thing the government can do for this issue is to adopt MA quad bike age restrictions vs capacity of machine so then the parents have no choice in thinking their children are better riders than they actually are. _________________ Darren Colbert

An article like this by any chance?
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/breaking-news/quad-bikes-too-dangerous-for-kids-report/story-fni0xqi4-1226719697945
Maybe they should get the facts in context first.

The "co-author" has a significant agenda against quads, of any sort.
MA could do something. I challenge them to duke it out with this bigot.
And, as you've very rightly pointed out, so should parents.
The "blame the quads" is no longer politically correct.
Neither is "inherently unstable", not that he'll exactly acknowledge that.
Incidentally the Nationals just held in Coolum had riders aged 6 to 64, and not one injury.
The Quad Muster at Townsville had no injuries other than a cut finger either.
All around the country today, some 250 000 quad bikes had no incidents reported either. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Yes ,very similar , parents in some instances don't worry about small kids riding125cc quads even as young as young 6 or 7.in relation to farm accidents did they have helmets on etc MA need to raise this issue and i think enforce age restrictions vs cc on quads _________________ Darren Colbert

And the different areas of riding is a part of the problem of response by the users groups.
MA are only concerned with events they underwrite. PERIOD.
It is only their membership base that they can speak for, and quads are very low on their totem pole.
Trail riders are ignored.
So is mum & dad having bought a toy for the little one.
Both those groups form the biggest portion of recreational users.
Sanctioned racing/competitive/social events barely represent 5% of all users.
Many of the farming incidents were not farming in nature at the time either.
A inconvenient truth without a voice.
It would be very nice if the official body spoke publicly about such matters......
When the previous minister ( Bill-gimme a effing pie-Shorten )announced the big shake up and threatened the big stick of legislation for the workplace, recreational users were deliberately left out of the both the submissions and the meetings.
The only agreement reached was that sufficient "hard" data was unavailable. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
