Hey guys
Had a massive crash at Stockton on Saturday and I'd just like to thank my fellow quad bikers for getting me and my bike back to the car. I owe you guys a beer or 10. Unfortunately I don't know your logins on this forum, so if you could just send me a pm or reply here.

The end result of the crash was a broken collar bone, two broken ribs and a punctured lung. They will probably have to pin my collar bone as its totally "profanity removed". Don't think I'll be riding for a few months.

Not sure how much damage was done to the bike apart from the obvious bent bars and cracked plastics. Hopefully there isn't any chassis damage

Thanks
Steve

Hey mate

Glad your ok, We had a feeling your lung punctured because your breath's were very shallow. It was hard to just watch you in pain without being able to do something for you.

I believe it was brad that doubled you back to the carpark.
I doubled andrew to the dunes to collect your quad with brad showing the way.

Your quad is fine, We bent the bars up to clear the plastics and Andrew rode it back to the carpark.

Your son is a brave boy also, Most kids his age would have fallen apart.

What actually happend anyway? It was flat where you stacked but I'm guessing the spot of wet sand caught you out while sideways?

It's good to know your names now. I know you told me before but I think I was in a bit of shock

I am really proud of my boy, he held it together in a pretty frightening situation.

I came over the lip near the wet patch and must have got the quad too sideways up when i hit the wet sand. It's still a shock what happened as Ive done that bit of sand many many times, but on a different bike. The 700 is way faster but I wasn't going any faster that I would've on the old bike

As soon as I am healed ill be back on the sand

Thanks again guys

Well I am finally out of hospital. Had to have surgery on my collar bone. It was broken into 4 main pieces and a few splinters, all of which are now back in their rightful place.

The bike fared better. Only got broken plastics (they were already creased anyway) and bent handle bars. The frame and steering stem appear to be straight. Guess Ill find out more once both my arms are working and I can dismantle it.

Should be back riding in 6 weeks according to the doc. Might take it easy at first and ride like a granny until the bone is fully healed.

Thanks to everyone that helped.
