Great idea , Is it a one shot job or can it be used multiple times
If you can keep costs to a minimum I think your on to a winner there

Awesome invention! I'm curious as well if it could be used multiple times after inflating?

Yes if activated manually by changing the bottle you can use it indefiniatly.
once the electronics has been activated it needs to be replaced.
this is not a large cost we are hoping it to be around $15 inc freight.
there is an article in todays Newcastle Herald.

Nice idea, I guess that being less bulky, it would encourage people to wear it more often?

I guess my only concern would be ongoing reliablity? presumably the electronics require a power supply? how often does that require attention? Is it like an Epirb, does it need expensive annual testing/servicing/ certification?

Does the adult jacket inflate as soon as you hit 3 feet? or is there a short time delay? if I fell into the water, I would probably go to this depth, whether I was in trouble or not.

Lets see.
Reliability, the product is undergoing intense testing this is why you cannot buy one.
The electronics use a mobile phone battery.easy to charge if required.
Every year your existing life jacket requires maintainence.(SUPPOSE TOO.)

The adult version will only inflate if you are under 1 meter of water for more than 10 seconds.

This enables you to swim in your life jacket without it going off.

What kind of run time will the battery give? Weeks, Months?

The battery will last for 10 hour straight USE whilst swimming.
If its anything like your hour meter on you bike it could be months to get to 10 hours of straight use.

What kind of cost are you anticipating compared to a "normal" lifejacket? obviously given the added complexity it will be more expensive.

From my point of view, the complexity (and presumably cost) and the need to charge batteries (meaning that the item may not be "ready to use" at a moments notice).. may outweigh the ease of being able to put it on and forget you are wearing it..

just trying to give some feedback (no criticism intended)..

Hello wa5
Thanks for the input.that is why I posted it on this forum.
Cost UNDER $100
if the battery is flat you are left with your existing life jacket you need to inflate youself.
Either pull cord or self inflate with blow tube.

And if you use a foam filled life jacket they are great for floating in a pool if you hit your head you will be face down and dead in 2 min. Can someone jet to you that quick.

ALL foam filled life jackets perform in this way?

I didnt know that automatic self inflating life jackets existed until I saw yours, after spending 5 minutes googling, it seems they are not that uncommon.

Most appear to have a Mechanical operation. as opposed to your electronic type. Have the mechanical type been prone to failure/ problems?

even found one for your dog Smile http://www.crittersinflatable.com/faq.php

Our electronics fits to existing life jackets making them fully armed and swimable.
and when you get into trouble it will save your life.

At present jackets will inflate as soon as you hit the water or get splashed.
