So many people are asking me "What are you going to do now? Are you going back to Dakar?" Well at this stage no im not.
I would dearly love to go back and have a real crack and i'm confident that if I did and everything went well I could get dam close or even on that podium. But unless one of my cow starts running golden milk or I find a magical money tree its just not going to happen.
So for the near future i'm going back to racing two wheelers. I have been racing quads for about 10 years now and loved every bit of it. It's taken me around Oz more times than I can count. I raced in every state in Aus the US ATV Nats at Budds Creek, Can-Am took us all to NZ, and of course quads have taken me to the biggest stage in the world Dakar. My biggest highlight was meeting all you quad people except for Roycroft (joking) the big Aussie quad family are the best people in motor sport but you all know that anyway.
I'll still show up when I can to the QRCV stuff when I can to catch up with everyone, but other than that i'll see ya all in the desert.

You'll be most welcome at any QRCV event, you've certainly been missed in the past. It's not 'quite' the same without Smithy around.

Having drinks after an event with Smitty is a quad riders institution, so maybe it was time you found a new institution...I could suggest a few!
You're our Smitty, but I suppose those half quad wanna-be's can borrow you for a bit, but when they discover what you're really like, we will welcome you back with open arms and open esky's.

he he, I'm gonna have to put two bikes next to each other so it feels like working on a quad.... don't worry I'm not running of to play with to many bikes again yet.

It's been a rare old ride helping out the Cowchaser with his quad racing adventures over the last 10 years, having been privileged enough to get to bust my ass all over the world to keep him going and achieve things that are going to take some effort to top in our little quad racing community, on the other side of that, I'm gonna have to find another quad rider to help win stuff.... maybe some one a little bit fitter this time and possibly one who drinks a little less as I'm getting to old to stay out all night....

Good luck with it all mate we have had some great times over the past years it seems a long time ago when the too boys were racing with you at colac and warrnambool , but you will still be part of the Quad family even if your on 2 wheels haha .
