| i used leatt lite its back section is longer than the std leatt armour but doesn't have the shoulder sections. it depends on who does the scruitineering. i had a woman do my gear and not i much attention was given to the armour, i guess they got 550 bikes to do. also heard of guys using one armour for scruitineering and then using another for race day cheers |

i will be there in my Polaris XP 900, with age comes a cage but i hope i can beat alot of other cars, the UTV times seem to be on par with top 5-10 on quad times so the 3hr mark seems to be the time to beat. _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |

What does everybody think about the supp reg changes...
First quad starts 10 mins after last bike (both days)
Positive move I think. _________________ Thanks to:

Will be a lot of quads passing bikes, that will please them.Thought the price of the fuel was a bit steep though, but still getting excited. _________________ JUST DOIN IT |

| Just getting an upgrade on my pacemaker, but should be there and ready to race. I think the changes to the Supp Regs suck. If they don't want us there they should just say so. |

Lets face it, the reality is most of the bikes don't want us there. We need to keep positive and try and improve the whole thing.
I think the concept is right. The 10 min gap is the problem. _________________ Thanks to:

The positive approach is right, But not sure about the math on the 10 minute gap either.
The old Pro-log set up does a good job of seperating riders by speed and skill. It minimises the need for overtaking which probably keeps everyone safer.
Just a quick look at the 2013 system for Quads based on last years results...
Lancaster would have to overtake 346 bikes on day one, and 283 bikes on day two
All less experienced riders, right down to the slowest bike who might have something like 35 quads having to pass them.
My math might be wrong but this is what I did to roughly work it out...
total number of finishers including OOT for day 1 was 414 + 35 = 445
10 minutes after my 218th place finish was 282nd place. I would theoretically be overtaking from 2 wheeler position 445 up to 282nd = 163 entrants minus maybe 22 quads that might be behind me = 141 overtakes.
total number of finishers including OOT for day 2 was 375 + 4 = 379
10 minutes after my 166th place finish was 227th place. I would theoretically be overtaking from 2 wheeler position 379 up to 227th = 152 entrants minus 15 quads that might start behind me = 137 overtakes.
Those numbers won't be perfect and all the overtaking would slow me down as well (which does not bother me). So maybe not 280 overtakes... but possibly 200... who knows?
Still that about 10 times more bike overtaking that Finke and I have ever experienced. _________________ Can-Am X Team

This was just posted on the FDR Facebook page...
AaaNina Hargrave As a member of FDR Committee and Clerk of Course for the event, I can assure everyone that this decision was not taken lightly and has been made after considerable research and deliberation. On this occasion we have chosen to pro-active rather than re-active. There has been a great deal of pressure to address the bike/quad issue from Officials, Competitors and our Governing Body. Should we not be seen to manage these complaints, we may find ourselves in the position of not offering the quad class at all. To address the ten minute delay, we have time restraints that are dictated by daylight hours. Without knowing the actual entry numbers and the proportions of bikes vs. quads, when developing the Supplementary Regulations, this was determined to be a safe starting point. Should the Clerk of Corse, in consultation with the Steward of the Meeting, determine that there is more time available, on the day, there is the ability to extend this break. To address the issue of faster quads being behind slower bikes, I feel that credit is not being given to the top quad riders. These are experienced competitors that have the skill and experience to overtake in most conditions. To address the issue of ‘ No one is thinking of the safety of the quad riders and how slow they are going to be bunched up in the dust and unable to pass each other.’, it is understood that almost all quad racing in Australia is not done with bikes in the field. I am not sure how this is different from all other quad events. The dust issue that is mentioned in this post is something that bike riders also have to address, especially when closing in on quads. As with any change to the event, there is expected to be objections. However, without change, there is a real danger of the quads no longer competing in this event. Should this process not be successful, there is the ability to change it back next year, with the knowledge that FDR is pro-active in addressing issues of concern. _________________ Thanks to:

| i can see there point, now that i have had a few minutes to claim down. like it or lump it is what there saying. its going to be a different race especially for the faster quads. a lot more overtalking which is what the prolouge is meant to avoid. i had a fairly clear run of it in 2012. but there is a lot track to soak us all up. we'll just have to see, cheers |
