Hi guys
Most of you guys already know by now but for those that dont I am participating in next years Dakar Rally. I will be the first Aussie to compete on a quad and it's going to be a hell of an adventure.
Dakar accepted my entry last month which in it's self is an achievement as only 30 quads get accepted world wide each year to compete in the famous race.
Pete W and myself along with our team GHR Honda will be heading over in late December for the adventure of our lives, if you wish to follow our adventure you can do so on Facebook and my own personal site that Pete has set up

if you're not a regular facebook user the facebook feed of Smittys Dakar page is now integrated into the www.paulsmithracing.com website so you can keep up to date with our progress.
there will be some auctions happening soon with some goodies that have been donated by various race teams, including some signed memorabilia to help raise some money to help with Smittys expenses for the event. As can be imagined it is not a cheap experience to go to Dakar at around 10 times the cost of going to Safari and we still have Safari to go first of course.
Smitty doesn't like to ask for money but it would be good for the Aussie quad community to get behind his efforts as the first Aussie quad rider to go over there which will hopefully open the way for more Australian riders to be able to go there with the support of a big team like GHR Honda who are the ones that have made it possible for us to go for the 2013 Dakar. The Quad Riders Club of Victoria have committed to donate an as yet undisclosed amount of money to help Smitty who has been one of thier most prominent members over the last 8 years. So if you want to help get in and bid at the auctions the well will be running or head over to the www.paulsmithracing.com page and you can dontate funds via a paypal link in the site or to dakar@paulsmithracing.com
