Have been looking at a new 2013 brute force 650.
I have never had anything to do with brute force or know anyone that owns one.
So are they a good thing?
What are some of there common problems.
Have searched the net but everyone is more interested in the 750 with little info on the smaller 650.
Any advice would be great.

THANKS

They are pretty much the same as the pre 2008 750. Apart from some examples blowing some oil into the air box from the crankcase breather when doing lot's of wheelies or extended high rpm thrashing, this can be fixed by fitting a catch can if it happens at all.

They are pretty bullet proof if looked after and serviced regularly. I don't have the 650i but rather the solid axle 650 and they are a blast. The Kawie v-twins are the Chevy small block of the quad world with many good BBK's available from the states at pretty reasonable prices that will double the HP and then some.

The 650i has the Nikasil cylinders the same as the 750 but the 650 sra and kfx 700 have the iron sleeves so they are cheaper to bore and hone if doing engine work. All the CVT belts and clutches interchange between all pre-2012 models with only the clutch springs and weights being different and the kfx 700 doesn't get the brutes KEBC (brake fitted to cvt to stop free wheeling). Most trouble stems from heavy mud/water use and lack of maintenance.

Have been speaking to a few people around the traps really had my mind set on the 650, but there saying it has its problems there are a handful up here that are having constant fuel pump problems and the like.
I know the 650 is still carby but is it using a electric fuel pump or something else ?
This quad will be for my partner to use I already have my own, she really liked the kawasaki but every is telling her different.

Husky thanks for the offer will let you know what happens. Even a group ride if a few people are interested.

Thanks for the replies so far.

It's usually the 750 that has fuel pump probs. Both the 650's use a vacuum fuel pump and if you do have probs with it it's a simple fix with a Mr Gasket 42s electric fuel pump. I actually run the mr gasket pump on mine, not because I had probs but because of the after market intake that I use.
