Who here would let their child jump on a Quad, two wheeler, pushbike, scooter, billycart.

without a helmet?

Theres your answer, non of us,

Education, im sure non of us would let a child on a 50 without a helmet, why cuase we all have probably had a size nine in the backside from the old man drumbing into us the importance of it.

Unfortunalty, "it will never happen to me" attitude prevales. and accidents will always happen.

Who mows the lawn in thongs? 100dreds loose toes every year - stupid -

Had only a conversation this smorning with one of the GA's at one of my schools who has property and a quad for genral farming and says there dangerous - he had no idea on simple stuff like cornering he assumed you dont have to lean like a 2 wheeler cuase it had 4 wheels.

.Education. Legislation, Fines.

Sorry, I didn't even see this thread and I've made a whole new topic for nothing.

So you're saying that without training at all you had the cash to buy a F1 race car and decide to just drive it flat out because it was sold to you? I've never been set on fire before but I know it's a bad idea and I'm sure someone would still sell me matches

That man is living proof that if you work hard enough at something, you will succeed. He was a junior tosser before, now he's a ministerial one!

Undoubtably, this recent Tassie incident is the quads fault as well:

The most common accidents on farms with quads causing serious injury or death is not rollovers but collisions with or going under farm equipment and getting pinned.rollbars will not stop this and if you have a rollover out in the paddock what's stopping the roll bars from twisting, collapsing etc and trapping you out there.the modern day quads have not got the strength in the frame with the added leverage of roll bars to maintain there position in a highspeed rollover .this is why we will never see bars on quads ..........

There is about 15 minutes of sensible discussion, from ABC radio in Tassie. Some of these people are also making submissions to the Federal Government.

Interesting thought I've been a dairy farmer for 20 years and have yet to have a collision with another piece of machinery (the odd cow has caught me out though Rolls eyes ) I have however had 3 complete rollovers and 3 on the side First roll over had a 50litre sprayer (supplied by my employer)on the front and the shift in weight on the side of a hill tipped me over, the second riding an unfamiliar bike on an unfamiliar farm along the top of a terraced river bank and the bank gave way. The last was again spraying on the side of a hill. All 3 rollovers were 1roll only and I felt it going and bailed off with no damage worth mentioning The first 2were in my first year of farming and riding quads No one had taken the time to teach me how to ride properly The last was last year I really shouldn't have been there I was just getting cocky The on the sides were all on hillsides too
