Safety should be your own responsibility. Maybe compulsory helmets for U/18's but adults should be able to make their own decision.
When I rode a raptor I threw a helmet on but jumping on a kingquad doesn't feel necessary to me.
Just like boats with life jackets. We should all wear life jackets when moving in a boat but we don't.
You don't wear a helmet when your sitting on the tray of a ute.
I would have thought back injuries would have been a bigger problem a mate who is a pilot for the flying doctors told me he has seen a lot of broken backs and necks from quad roll overs when I was talking to him about getting a quad. |

Here it is a legal requirement to wear a helmet when on the farm at work. This can be a bit tricky with self employed people (farm owners , sharemilkers etc) as they set there own work hours "nah you can't do me I was doing donut in the paddock on my lunch break" and because he workplace is also home. But wage earners are a bit easier to do, but the employer goes for aneven bigger skate. For farm work the "aghat" has been approved something like a cross between a bike helmet and a rock climbers helmet. I always wear my mx helmet on trail rides and riding between farming blocks (I manage a dairy farm and a runoff about 5ks away for a farming company with 5 dairy units and several dry stock units) on both our grizz or the farm supplied 2wheeler but I must confess that while fencing or getting the milkers in I don't tend to wear one but I find myself wearing it more often than I used to as a young fulla _________________ Tremble with fear - I've had an idea |

It is also illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to ride a full sized quad in a place of work They are however allowed to ride one for that age group laid down in the manufactors guidelines. Most of these rules came out of a similar incidences to the one you mentioned above. Our son recently gave up riding but a 11 he was riding a raptor 90 and always wore full gear and was within my sight, something he never questioned _________________ Tremble with fear - I've had an idea |

...and that is just the problem. The majority of these unfortunate incidents were on quads just like a kingquad. You would be hard pressed to find a handful of recent incidences where sports or racing quads were involved with riders not wearing their helmets(off the racetrack). Helmets should be worn regardless of how big and safe the machine feels. Both a Raptor and a Grizzly are capable of high speeds. I wear a helmet whenever I take my Commander out for a ride, even a short one. I have a full roll cage but what is going to protect my head from hitting the cage if I roll my machine. You would think that this would be common sense, but reading of people riding three and four up on these machines at speed clearly indicates that there is very little of that about sometimes. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Too true. When you take a key, you should take the responsibility. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
Notice that crazy in the bureaucrats. |
