Not a great deal of change on the UTV side though except for power steering as standard on the X, XT, and Ltd models. A lot of riders were banking on a pure sports model release next year to compete with the XP and the Wildcat. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

I hope they put stiffer springs and better shocks on the 2013 models maybe upgrade them a little for the standard line up _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

Are they ever going to change the way the steering stem comes out? Or should I say doesn't! _________________ Cheers,

Give Wadey a hassle and see what this part number brings up: 715 001 471.
I think it's right. It should be an accessory shock upgrade kit for the G2 Outlander.
They are the same Fox podiums that come standard on the base model Renegades.
The front will be heavier, but the rear might be lighter??? You MIGHT be able to use your rear springs on the upgrade shocks if you like the standard rear spring rates??? _________________ Can-Am X Team

The rear springs and softness is great , i just cant handle the softness of the front springs, under steep descent and engine breaking the front drops to much and very much limits ground clearance,, i cant understand why they were released with virtually the same springs as earlier models when the bike is a bit heavier _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

You are correct about the virtually the same spring rate. The anti-dive geometry is supposed to help to the point where you can run lighter spring weights.
It does, and there are advantages to that, but I can see why it would not be most peoples cup of tea.
Throttle control is the big answer, especially on the 1000 because the engine braking is so massive.
I find that difficult to get used to aswell. You really have to think hard about just touching the throttle in tricky situation, just to keep the engine brake disengaged.
But like you, I'd just chase a heavier front spring. It's always a trade off, but I could put up with the disadvantages of a heavy spring, and would enjoy the advantages.
I have found 2 different part number front springs for thos Standard Upgrade Fox Podium type shocks.
706 201 269 fitted to the 800R Renegade and a 706 201 258 on the EPC for that model too ???
I don't yet know what the weight differences are (if any because sometimes it can be just colour).
I would'a thought a little fella like you would be ok with the lighter standard springs hey? _________________ Can-Am X Team
