Hey

My brother and his mates had an idea to organise a weekend ride on the west coast. Sometime around may 25th. What would everyone think? It's heaps of time to get organised. Some of us would go down the night before and camp some would come the morning after. We'd ride that day until the afternoon and camp the night, have a few beers, fire etc.

We wont go anywhere too 4x4 but a public or easy to get to camp spot by the beach or close to - would be the kind of place we'd set up.

Who would be keen? At the moment it's me my brother and a few mates.

Blokes weekend!

Having RV Rego isn't just to give money to the government, It's for your protection as well.

Have you thought what might happen if you to run into somebody on a track and seriously injure them and it's your fault. CTPI covers you against that for all medical and hospital costs that are involved including your own. Helicopters and ambulances are expensive things especially in remote places.

If you happen to be pulled up by Parks and Wildlife on the West Coast, you'll be booked and fined for no rego. You'll also be booked and fined for riding in a special permit area.

You can't get a West Coast permit unless your quad or bike is registered.

Exactly. Everyone that is going will need registration.

It was my brothers idea in the first place everyone else is basically invited. He can't get time off until may hence the reason for going then.

Yes you do, I've got one sitting here right in front of me.

You need one for the following areas -

- Ocean Beach Conservation Area.

- Mt Heemskirk Regional Reserve

- Four Mile Beach Conservation Area

- Arthur/Pieman conservation Area

They are available from Parks and Wildlife Offices.

You quad or bike must be registered to get a permit.

You need a motorbike or car licence and Henty Dunes is included in the Ocean Beach permit.

The permit is free and it lasts for 12 months but as I said your vehicle must be registered.

No offense to anyone - but you'd have to be stupid to ride down the west coast without registration.

It's not that expensive, you can only get it for 6 months which is like $150 if you need to as well. Jake has never registered any of his quads but he is for this.

I've registered mine a while ago mainly because they are cracking down on it in the North East. I know people that have been chased and got away then the rangers were waiting for them back at their cars. They unfortunately have the right to take your bike then and there, just like the police do cars.
