A Midden is a pile of pipi shells, the piles of shells you see here n there. there is one near tin city.. and some more north of there also.. most are are sign posted, Provided people don't ride/drive over them I can't see why atv's can't have full access to Stockton beach like 4wds do. Maybe they should try educating people about these middens and there importance to their culture instead of handing out finds and barring us from riding on what are some of the best dunes on the east coast , something that they seem to have a hard time policing after seeing some of the vids and photos on this site. Plus they just might get the respect they are looking for, for these sites. As it is it would appear that to most people think they are just a pile pipi shells that could have been left there anyone some time in last 200 years considering white man settled in the area around 150yrs ago... If anyone is interested there is a book on the history of Port Stephens, probably find it in your local library. _________________ 2011 Banshee 350

Gents,,, I understand where you come from in the last few comments. I don't want to sound like a wanker........ but, what you must understand is the powers that be watch this web site, the comments, the attitudes, and the general opinion of all who use it and it's a thin red line you run with such comments. These sites are held with high historical value and we must respect that. It's the world we live in today and by no means am I suggesting that in 200 years time our waste shall be considered in the same respects due to the significant amount of waste all our cultures now produce. Can I ask when was the last time you sat around a camp fire with your Tribe, Family, Friends or others and ate something you had caught instead of bought, or when the last time was you seem a pippi on Stockton beach even worth using for bait let alone eating ( not a source of my very unbalanced diet). Our personal opinions only have the power to destroy our chances, Our united front in these matters however has a chance to keep the dream alive. _________________ LTR 450 no 187 |

Hi all, today I sent an email to my local member of state parliament, Craig Baumann, asking him to contact the RTA and request the number of atv regos that use the RVA, hopefully this data will be of some assistance in gaining greater access to stockton beach, I also found out that the member for Maitland, Robin Parker, is the Minister for the Enviroment, eg NPWS, WLC.. It might be worth while contacting them as well to see what assistance they might be able to lend. cheers Campo _________________ 2011 Banshee 350

Excellent work mate I will try to contact Robyn tomorrow, but as I said power in numbers, the more who start chasing info now the more they shall realise how serious we are. The first meeting is going to be a chance for us all to come together, share and structure our information, and put our names to paper. It seems to be the only thing that may get us across the line to be heard. _________________ LTR 450 no 187 |

G'day guys,
Just a reminder first gathering this Saturday at the General Washington hotel at Stockton @ 11am. This is an opportunity for us to hopefully pass on some information, register some numbers and hopefully gain your support. As I've previously said I do believe we stand a better opportunity of being heard by NPWS if we stand together with the right attitude and approach. Hope to see you there and pass on the word of the meeting.
Cheers Brad. _________________ LTR 450 no 187 |

It went very well. BIG ROCKS and Ozpilot are very well organised and really well informed.
I think we're headed on the right track. _________________

G'day Folks,
It was a great turn out to the first gathering. We now have 54 members and alot more interest. A plan of direction has now been discussed between members and we are looking to set up some meetings as well as setting our date for the second social group gathering. If anybody has any questions, ideas or would like to register and join please don't hesitate to contact me.
I will keep all members informed and up to date on progress. Contact details and member cards will be sent out this week.
Thanks, to all who turned up, and especially to Brendan, Kyle, Brian, Leigh, Micko and Matty. Also a special thanks to Justin and the Washtube for the use of their facilities and some wonderful food.
Stay posted cheers Brad. _________________ LTR 450 no 187 |
