Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has QLD conditional rego and what the restrictions are? Can you ride on Fraser island?
Ryan. |

Yes I do have conditional rego.
Yes, there are restrictions on it.
These revolve around the key issues of the need for written permision from the Police and/or the Road owner/manager and/or the land Manager/owner.
Litiigation concerns and passing the buck make this form of rego pretty useless for recreational use, though OK for working vehicles.
There is a entire thread or two on it in the Qld section.
It was previously easier to get and use.........
EDIT. Oh yeah, you need written permision from of suitably qualified land owner to get the rego now.
DERM, who manage Frazer Island, only allow conditionally registered vehicles as a group thing. No individual enjoying yourself.
The local cops have had a gutful of tourists with the brainbox on holidays, and are very unlikely to give the seperate authority.
In any case, it's all beachwork or controlled and patroled inland sand tracks which have a 30km/h limit. Ditto Bribie and Moreton Islands.
Stockton has much better sand riding. If that's what you want. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Yep... Obviosly I'm aware there is a sticky on the rego, I was more chasing people experiences with taking quads to Fraser and if it has been done before.
Stockton is over rated these days, over policed ad to many conditions... Looking for an alternative.
Thanks for the replies |

You might have to go a long way to find a alternative, Ryan.
Under the radar and north of 1770 and further, a lot further.
We've tried the Frazer Island/North Shore/Bribie Island/Moreton Island things. Not a lot of joy.
It used to happen but some serious changing of the guard has to occur before it does again.
Of course, you could become a cop or a surf lifesaver and do a lot of static riding on the glitter strip. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
