Had a return phone call today from MICK MURPHY (national parks and wildlife)discussing a range of things on our agenda.Firstly Mick is sending me a set of overhead plans of the whole stockton beach area.these are for our group at the first get together to put forward the best and safest area which we require to ride quads ,trikes etc where 4x4's are restricted from.Mick today with Adam Faulkner has invited a group of us when appropiate time to sit down and discuss the issues at hand .So we need to get together and start this process.cheers stock8mate.

This is great news and potentially a positive outcome, riding north of Lavis Lane to say Tin city would be an ideal solution for both parties, as we get a better more diverse area to ride and for the Worimi we would potentially do less damage to the beach (no real protected sites/middens or grassy areas in the big hills to damage and the sand moves so much quad tracks are gone overnight) Lets be realistic here, most 'damage' is caused by 4WD's. Not dissing 4WD's, I have one myself and often drive on the beach, just being honest about what I see when I'm out there.
It would be the ultimate if they made it an RVA area only as most of the 4WD accidents/incidents happen in the North hills due to inexperience or natural stupidity.

Rather than a club, what about a non profit organisation? membership fees can be 'donated' to the Worimi as a gesture of good will.

I totally agree that the money given is used to protect all of the sacred cultural areas around stockton beach ,the reason why they have quad tours around the area of the higher hills towards the tin huts is that it is the safest place on stockton beach to ride ,so I believe we should be all together as one big happy family. cheers stock8mate

I think it best to do exactly what they tell us to do.
They are comming down hard on people going out of bounds.even sneaking around after hours checking regos
if you dont like it i sajest you dont go up there.
And when the numbers die off you will be able to walk to the signa.
having a club with a say may help.
You know someone that can speak there language.

Hey guys, I heard back from Washtub yesterday re: use of the venue. They are 100% behind us offering full use of the facility including the upstairs area to hold meetings. I understand that people are always going to have difficulty making it to meetings. I think the alternate days ie one sat then one sun is a good one. I have arranged the washtub for SAT 3/3/12 at this point. I understand this may not suit everyone but we need to start somewhere and soon. 11am is the time ear marked at this stage, I'm open to suggestions, but we can't just organise to suit one or two people. How does everyone feel about this and who is interested in attending? Pm me if any particular questions you do not want to post. I think this should be non alcohol till after the meeting as well. This will give everyone plenty of time to organise them selves and people investigating information to tidy up. I will print up some sign up sheets. Once again I think it needs to be held as a free social group only requiring current rego and worimi pass to join, Other wise if it becomes a club insurances are going to be required. Once again I hope we can continue to work together, and stay positive with each other and toward the united goals.

The worrims's wont let us ride on the tounge section of the beach they kept that section for themselves. At the meeting at anna bay I said tin city northern boundry & the rangers said how would you stop people from ridding on the tounge section getting to the northern RVA? & implied that if 10% of RVA user's ride on the tounge then no ridding north again. this can be fixed with there white poles along the boundry & if we got 15km of beach to use that has all the terrane tracks we wont then people wont go near the tounge & have room to get away from 4x4's.
Good to meet ya kyle see you at the meeting.

whats the tounge section? is that the area where the old 4 wheel drive track came on to the beach? all sounds like a plan hopefully word of mouth will get every body there as we need as many people as possible there. well done, do you think inviting womri and NPWS repressentitives would be a good idea? what are the main points of discussion going to be everybodys input here would be good how are we going to go about this.

Why would you invite them. No one may turn up.Your just going to tell them you want more land to ride on.
There are already people talking to national parks representing atv users.
Have you invited them to your meeting.

I personally would hold the first meeting as a closed group, only riders & other interested parties to attend. Would give you a good chance to put together a strategy/plan of approach, then look at inviting NPWS, Worimi, etc to the next meeting if they are interested in attending. You will need the chance at first to sought out the group otherwise it could end up being just a yelling match with absolutley no means, there are alot of riders/users who would just like to vent their frustration. Just my thoughts.

I agree gents. I think the first meeting should be to establish our selves, discuss our ideas and make a list of possible solutions. The second meeting for sure. As I said we need to approach the powers that be with the right attitude to look to be heard and hopefully have ideas heard.

I spoke to the powers to be as we say today and they all know about the meeting and are looking forward to having a small group discussion at another time after our meeting.I have been sent a few large overhead or airiel copies of the beach which shows us the different areas ,whether its national parks ,woromi lands or crown land and the RVA area. These are provided to us from them for our social gathering to understand what area is what. Then we can suggest some appropiate areas we think would benefit everyone .Then our suggestions and ideas will be forwarded onto them as us reps meet them at a suitable time .cheers stock8mate.

Good work fellas. If something improves up there (riding area and conditions) I will probably end up forking out the mega bucks for my quad to ride up there.

That's great work mate. Thank you very much. I think that everyone is moving in the right direction and approaching this very wisely. With the attitude everyone has now I believe we'll resolve a lot of the issues mentioned.

the land were the old 4x4 track went is for mining weather its a mining company or worrimi's i dont remeber, thats why the track changed, the tounge is the section of high dunes 5 10min north over the back of the beach, you can see it on the npws map but not while you are ridding. I think it should be tin city north, port stephens newcastle council border south, water to the tree's, or have no ridding north but give us pages hill witch is inside the park & pole of the boral npws border considering there are established tracks & have been for over 20 years.

G'day guys all seems to be moving ahead nicely. Can anyone who has been collecting information pm me their phone numbers so I can arrange a pre meeting meeting so we can gather all the info ready to pass on in some form of structure at the first social group. I will try to organise a central location and a time to suit all. I think it will be exciting to see it starting to come together. What sort of numbers do all you guys see hopefully attending first social group meeting? There is a pretty big room organised at the Washtub so the more the better.

Thats why I thought north edge of tin city straight line to the water & to the tree line. if its 500m than there would be a 450m, no go zone before the midden area.

It would be go if we could have pages seen as tho it isn't private land least the hills anyway ..then we d have no chance of meeting a 4wd on the back of a hill climb or let us use the high dunes area but not have access to the beach front in front of the high dunes and let us keep the beach front that we already have access to...
I was thinking that if we get to close to tin city we may be fighting against a separate group of people who may not want us around...also they may want to keep us away from the midden area so that the possibility that some riders dont stray into the wrong area...
Sorry if I sound negative I'm just trying to think of all parties

Im pretty sure a Midden is an aboriginal site, where there would be old bones/ shells, maybe some rocks tools, stuff like that where they used to hang out and eat
