has anyone replaced the lower steering stem bearing on a alloy yfz450r frame there seems to be some big nut thing that u must undo to get it out just wondering if there's a special tool to remove that nut Smile

yes there is a special tool.... I have one for a steel frame YFZ and it eoudl possibly be the same, can you measure the nut? it is the internal one i assume?

I made my own special tool , go to bunnings and get a big ass nut and bolt that fits the bearing cap , srew the nut on the bolt then weld it ( or possibly double nut it ) then just undo it with a socket ,

Thats exactly what I did when I did mine..
Cant recall what size the head was though...Somewhere around M20-M24

Thats what i did to Very Happy what you get is a M20 bolt and 2x M20 nuts and on the end of the bolt you lock the 2 nuts against each other and the bolt head is 30mm so you drop that in the bit that needs to be undone and use a 30mm combo spanner and use it to undo the nut closest to the bolt head . and that will bite up to the other nut and you will be able to undo your bearing retainer Very Happy .

cheers guy's I improvised a little and used the sprocket nut sat few washers inside so the nut sat half out and in lol done the job lol
