I myself just bought a quad, the only place i know of legaly riding it is at Pt gawler just outside of Adelaide . Im really interested to find new places even if its up to 100km or more out of adelaide. If your from SA post a reply and say Gday, atleast that way i can get to meet some of you _________________ When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. |

You looking for recreational riding or competing as well? |

Just ride.
Just don't go into the national parks or paved roads.
SA has some great spots for dune riding like Robe and Beach port.
Come up to the Riverland there are heaps of places to ride.
The no rego thing is a bummer but I don't worry about it to much.
What sort of bike do you have? |

G'Day Spearsy,
The Quad Riders Association of South Australia have a strong and friendly club, we even have our own home track at Acusa Park near Nairne in the Adelaide Hills. We have a Motorcross and Enduro Series, we have Trail Ride Weekends, Campaways at Peake and Kingston SE and Recreational Ride days at Acusa Park. We are having our last meeting of the year and AGM on Wednesday 14th December at the Velocette clubrooms, 74 Drayton Street, Bowden. You should come down and meet a few people and find more information about the club and its members.
If your interested in riding in the sand dunes, we have a campaway on the Australia Day Weekend in late January, if you want to give me a call i can give you as much info as you want, hope to hear from you.
You can also find a lot of information on our website, www.dualroost.com.au

Hi again Spearsy,
There are a few options in SA, SA Quad Club will also be running events in 2012 for MX, enduro, flat track, ride days, coaching days etc.
SA Quad Clubs web site is currently being upgraded so is not fully complete but have a look anyway www.saquadclub.com.au
This gives riders in SA a good range of events to go to, plenty of riding is available.
We have a meeting on the 19th December at Motorcycling SA's office at 7.30pm. 251 The Parade, Beulah Park SA for members and invited guests. If you need any assistance our email is info@saquadclub.com.au |

Hey. Yeah im new to quad biking and looking for a good club i can join to better introduce me to the sport and get to know what its all about.
I have a 250 razor (chinese brand) i went out on sunday and feel alot more confident on my quad after i had a good thrash and then started to go over some small jumps.
i really do feel like i need a bigger and better quad to really start taking this seriously. Ive taken steps to attach a tow bar to my ute, and have ideas of building my own custom trailer someday. If it wasnt for Xmas i would have bought a new quad already but i need some good advice on a suitable quad for myself. im thinking of getting another 250 or something slightly more powerful. Im 5'7 and 60kg so i dont want to get too crazy and get thrown off the thing _________________ When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. |

As you can see Spearsy there are at least 2 Quad clubs in SA, you can join one or join both and have twice the ride time.
As far as what Quad everyone has their favourite for whatever reason, depends what type of riding you are looking at doing at what level/class.
Come along to the club meeting and talk to other members.
The aim is to go out and have fun no matter what.
Hope to see you Monday night and we can hopefully answer more of your questions. |

Don't let size scare you.
250cc will get boring real quick.
I only weigh 65kg and ride a modified raptor 700. |

My ideal quad is something that can go on any dirt trails, something strong and reliable, something that i can go over jumps on. I dont really plan on entering any competitions just yet but might do in the future. So to sum it up, i want a bit of everything quadding has to offer. i would also like to take it through sand dunes, from what ive seen that looks like something i want to try out. Is that enough information to point me in the right direction as to what quad i should be looking at buying? my price range is up to $6,000 _________________ When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. |

Up to $6k will buy you a second hand Quad in excellent condition.
But seeing as you already have something, you may as well hang on to what you have for a while and meet bunch of quad riders at different events before you decide where to go from there.
If you can make it to any one of the QRASA rec ride days that i'm at, you can have a go on my DS450.
And I'm sure there are plenty of other members who will share and help with advice _________________ Can-Am X Team

Hi all, thought this would be a good place for my first post. Just starting to get interested in quads but don't own one yet. It's something I'd like to do with my son and I can see huge benefits for fishing, which I am crazy for.
Can someone clarify for me exactly what the quad bike laws are in SA? As far as I understand you can only ride quads on private land if your bike is not registered.
Where can you ride your bike if it is registered?
Is the cost and method of registration similar to that of a car?
Are there areas where you can ride that are technically illegal but sensible riding is tolerated by the law?
Sorry for all the questions but I've been googling for 2 hours and can't seem to find definitive information.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

at this stage in south australia, rego is not an option. riding with a club at organised activities, on private land is the easiest legal way to go about it.
refer to previous posts regarding QuadridersSA. check out www.dualroost.com.au for details on activities ,committee contacts, and a calendar of events for 2012. |
