was at stockton over the christmas hoildays and had conditional rego and beach permit for rzr xp 900 atv , rangers said they are telling rta to cancel all regos of vehciles that dont look like quad bikes , why would rta give you rego and then rangers wanna cancel it , anyone have a clue whats going on?

they said they would do this last january when i took a rzr 800 up there. never saw anything in the mail.

its been 12 months now and they are still talking about it. from what i could gather i wouldn't think rangers would be alllowed to pick what was allowed up there, wouldn't it be the RTA and since the papers still say you can rec rego a buggy, why not??

What does it say on the rego papers? I thought it said something about stockton on my quad rego but I'd have to check on that. Did you tell the RTA that it was for stockton dunes? If they gave you the rego for stockton I can't see what the hell it has to do with the rangers!

it says on the rego stockton beach , what the rangers are saying is they have been contacting rta and telling them to cancel people rego's cause the polaris doesnt look like a quad bike or like what they have pictured in the rta conditional rego vehicle sheets , but i spoke to rta and they will get back to me but the lady said the pictures are just a guide they are not going to post pics of all kinds of atvs, just have to wait for rta to return call me sent them all info on it specs etc as they requested

Well what you and the RTA say makes sense but I gotta tell ya it just depends who you speak to at the RTA.....you can talk to 10 different people 10 different times and never get the same answer. I hope you get it sorted and imo it has nothing to do with the rangers, they are there to police it and nothing more, so if you have the plate, papers and permit you are legal for all intents and purposes.

The rest of the world classes a sxs or utv as an atv but lord knows the bureaucrats over here don't like to use common sense....not for a minute! Read the links below and use them as ammo if needed.

I have just been through this and if it is not a quad or a two wheeler the rta should not have registered it.
I would be applying for a refund on rego.
The national parks control stockton and unfortunatly they will not allow you on the beach, when they are there.

I have tried long and hard to have safer, more family friendly atv's returned to Stockton. I have not seen any interest from the Minister in relation to that concept. If it has got a roll bar and a safety harness it is not allowed.

i got told yesterday from rta that because it has seats and not like bike seats that it is now similar to a golf buggy (how stupid) which is not allowed on stockton also cause it has a roof or top , they will let 4wd's on the beach but not a smaller similar vehcile

In a lot of places they get cheap 4wd 'S and lighten all of the metal and drop v8,S in them but keep them rego'd so you then could go anywhere in stockton...

so the rangers put in a request at the rta for my rec conditional rego to be cancelled at rta , now if i havn't heard from anyone or nothing has been cancelled do you think i can still take my polaris rzr to stockton ?

they put in the request at begining of this month heard nothing no letters etc?
