Well spent most of yesterday at work,Finishin up all the mounts (properly)lol all solid mounted now.Got rid of all the rubber.standard crank in it mounted fuel tank filled up with gearbox oil coolant and started the big girl wwwwwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww what a difference not barely any vibes at all until 3/4 full throttle and than some start comin back altough pretty dam little ones at that but i still think im gunna go heavier to get rid of it all cause it aint perfect but oh god its made the biggest difference. One huge difference i noticed was when i reved it the front only dips a tiny bit now.I pulled the balancer out an started it just to see the difference oh god reved it the front drops about 50mm vibes all the way through but at 3/4 full throttle the old jack hammer effect starts lol no way it would last more than a ride. The tank mount bolts undid themselves and fell on the floor while i was tryin it now thats sayin somethin. _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |

Tried some nice soft urethane on the mount points??
NOT the RED stuff..way too hard.
Counter balance approach looks good,... may take the B flat harmonic out the chassis lol.
Good luck with it dude.
I think there is alot of people wanting to know how this one turns out.. thats mad .....I want one!!!!
Maybe a single large mount to the bottom allowing the motor to move more, instead of the sandwich plates approach either side which may in its self be adding to the problem.
Youll work it out mate .. all the best. _________________ Consistency..... The last refuge for the unimagenative. |

Tried it all mate lots of different rubbers.Solid mounting it was the biggest improvement bar counterbalancin it.There was adude in the states built one i read the story on his he also went the rubber way and before long eneded up solid mountin his. _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |

biggest thing with a new comer on that type of equipment is have a go at anything because confidence on the machine is king... but formostly SPEEDS AND FEEDS.... get these correct with tool type familiarisation and your laughing... have a blast.. with those types of resourses there are no limits.. _________________ Consistency..... Another update,Spent all day today at work turnin up a new shaft for the balancer and adding more weight (lentgthing it)also had to make the outside cover/case wider to accept the wider balancer also tidy up alot of other stuff.Balancer now weighs in at just over 800grams so i think its gunna be spot on now double the weight.Didnt get the chance to start it as it took so long turnin up new shafts and weldin an truing things up.I will have a full story on how it runs tmoz arvo as im goin back over to work to do more to it.Heres some photos any ways cheers fellas!
this is the weight how it sits inside the outer cover^
weight assembled ^
stock 84 250r counter balancer weight ^
weight of balancer now ^
Balancer actually seperates ^ _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |

Yeh mate got her running vibes are there but very very minamal now easlly rideable i think ive counter balanced it as much as it can.i reckon the flywheel is way to small and light on these engines.ok in the bike but as soon as it gets in the quad you need a heavy flywheel im also goin to look at getting a weight on it or even try fitting somethin off somethin else like 250r or somethingive got a couple of little bugs to sort out but yeh over all mate im so stoked how this has turned out.i got my new pipe for it on saturday so thats the next stage fittin that i just bought a fmf gnarley and am goin fit that should work ok.later on down the track ill look at porting and different pipes an stuff but i just wanna get it goin for now im sick of lookin at it and not ridin the big girl.
Yeh mate stock 84r is abit under 800 not sure how accurate those scales are (there kezzas kitcken ones lol)water cooled 250r ones are lighter due to haven a full circle crank where as the 84's arent full circle .I reckon adding weight to this flywheel will get rid of the last of the vibes (I HOPE LOL )
Also mate ive been tryin to call that dude about mackay cant get through to him ay. _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |

| I have questions. Are you willing to answer any yet? I am building my conversion and am going to tackle a balancer. Can you be more detailed about the balancers weight and length. How did you derive the needed weight? What gear did you use? It has to be 1:1 I know, but was it a primary also? Any help would be appreciated. |
