Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum and I am just in the process of adding a new hobby to my already long list of hobbies
I have my out doors and I love everything offroad, from 4wd'ing to radio control monster trucks.
I've got a mate who loves quad biking, and ive been slowly convinced this is something I should also get into .. he also buys and sells second hand quads.
I decided to checkout the market and found that these things are BLOODY expensive ! , 1st I thought I would get into it with a 2WD atv, like a Banshee, but then was told that at my age that type of quad but may not be a best fit if you want to come home to the wife and kids everytime I go out.
I finally decided that for me .. it was going to be a mid sized 4x4 utility quad. Something I can cruise around a place like Lake Lyell, cross a few rivers, climb a few hills and then get out the esky and have a nice lunch !
Now a few after deciding on the type of quad .. i now also decided on the model. The only reason I did decide is that there is a damaged 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 450 4x4 that I can buy for a good price.
It was rolled by a farmer and has been left in the sun for some time and requires, most plastics, couple of the wheels are bent, instrument gauge, lever, straighten handle bar, engine cover, both racks and some other bits and bobs. I;ve also done some major research on what it will approx cost me based on www.powersportsplus.com and I can get away with around $1500 in repair bills.
Now the quad is cheap .. i mean really cheap. My question is, what are some of the common issues I need to know about this model before I buy it and fix it ?
Also if the engine runs like dream ( I drove it up and down the driveway) is there anything else with the engine I should note ?
