Hey guys need to pick up some new tyres for my 2009 YFZ450R and 2008 LTR450 both on stock rims. What's the difference (aside from size) in a 20" tyre or 18" tyre? I ride mostly trial and some MX as well and pretty new to the game so looking for some advice on what will be best suited to my riding style.

Big is right about the maxxis for MX, dont know about the Dunlops though for trail, i can think of a hand full of others id use. I ride trails in Vic & the conditions are pretty tough on rubber. You cant go wrong with Kenda Klaws or knarlys, if you like playing in mud check out the Kenda bear klaws _________________ 04 TRX 450r

It's hard to find a one tyre compromise that perfectly suits MX and Trail.
I would say a small 20 inch tyre would be the go.
Actual sizes printed on tyres can vary by more than an inch.
The ITP 20 inch Quadcross XC would be a great rear tyre.
it is a small 20, has a broad tread and 6 ply rating for the scrub.
Ask Andy from AUSTRACO (03) 5341 2770, he is very good with tyre advice. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Cheers for the info guys helped me out heaps
Got a trip to the UK lined up in 2 weeks so wont be buying until I get back, reckon 20" might be the go unless I got some spare cash left over after the trip and I can get a set for MX and trial _________________ 2010 Yamaha YFZ450R / 2008 Suzuki LTR450 / 2008 Holden Astra 2.0 Turbo |
