Well something happened on my last ride, for the 1st time ever I just wasn't into it. Conditions were great, well organised ride with no drama's. Now I don't know if I simply had an off day but I didn't feel comfortable on the bike (nothing wrong with the bike), So now I'm wondering if its time to pack it in & sell the bike/gear. At the end of the day I simply didn't enjoy the ride. The one thing I have noticed is at the end of each ride I seem to feel that little more sore than usual & next day recovery seems to take that bit longer. So what do you think? did I just have an off day or am I coming to a folk in the road where its time to make a change?

Maybe just find a good sports physio/massage and get a bit fitter?
I was off last year, prolapsed discs in my back but now i am brand new(sort of) and i will keep riding for as long as i can as i don't care about anything else.I am 51 and been riding since 12.If you can find a sport/hobby that you like more then move on.
gazman...ps i am also moving to an irs quad.525, trx700 maybe.

TakE some time out away from the quads and the bike 6 to 12 months
Get the urge back and then back on it. Once you sell it it will be hard to get back financially.
Trust me it works

Come and have a spin in the big banana at xmas mate and see how you feel when you get out. They go everywhere a 4wd quad will go, go as fast as the trx and you can carry your hunting and camping stuff, and they are a lot kinder to old bones.

Is that the real reason?

Or did you scare the s@$*t out of your self and now feel uncomfortable on the bike.

Ha Ha Ha.,I like it!!!!
Try a few asprin before a ride, takes away the lactic acid build up and no where near as sore the next day.I am no doctor that's for sure, but it does help with older muscles and bones.I have an orange BANANA,but still love riding my quad .

Ive came to that fork in the dirt as well
Ive had an off year. Maybe age. Soreness. Or its just not what it used to be might even be i havnt raced mx for two years an just raced enduros an some trail rides i like going fast an jumping if im not doing those i may as well sell up as i hate slow things. An funny thing is i just bort a new 450r dug a bit of a hole for my self now so i have decided to sell three of my bikes an now buying a speed boat for the hot months an keep the new bike for what ever i wish to mx is on the cards next year. Might even be the weather makeing you feel that way i went for a ride last week an hated riding during the day was better at night.

Even I get like that sometimes JB and I'm not even old, (thankfully) Laughing I don't mind not riding for a bit but then one day I will just think bugger it, time to go and thrash this bike again and then I will ride again for a few months until I get sick of it again.

Maybe try knitting a jumper... and see if you feel like you would prefer to ride your Quad before you finish.

ride a decent 4x4 quad, cant go wrong, and as for me, lets face it I'm fat, unfit and god knows what else, and after most rides I'm sore, stuffed and hating it for a week, but then I think the TP300 is coming up and I get that buzz going again and cant wait to do it agian, no matter how slow I am
but you know what, I can use the quad as excuse to go camping. So dont sel it just chuck it in the corner for year or two. Very Happy

I have a repetitive muscle strain injury, it doesnt really go away, done all the different stuff to try & help it but its now something thats always going to be with me, now its a case of managing it

As far as taking time off i do that anyway, i only ride during the winter/wetter months so its not as if im doing it all yr round like most of you & the $$$$$ factor of starting all over again, your right

it is a good excuse mate & i do use the bike for hunting from time to time, as for throwing it in the shed for a yr or two, do you remember how nagging you did to me to start riding again after i busted myself @ work a few yrs ago?, couldnt listen to you all over again Razz
Thanx for the input everyone, i wont make any hasty decisions until i do a few more rides, if i still feel the same about it the answer will be more apparent to me [/quote]
