round tube is stronger in the sense that it will handle stress a lot more because unlike shs or rhs it has no sides or edges that can fail on a edge, yes tube will fail also but not as quick, google it I'm starrting to confuse myself now... eek

my thought is tube is stronger than shs or rhs

Hey mate go the tube coz its stronger than equivelent size rhs/shs. Its because that being circle it evenly distributes the load around the circumfrence. I think thats right.

Tube is much stronger make sure it is seam-less you do not need crome-moly 4 a roll cage as you can not stress releave it like you can when you build a chassis (heated up 2 releave it) hope that helps

Strength to weight ratio, round tube is strongest.
2 inch square weighs significantly more than 2 inch round, so you would be adding more steel for no advantage if you use square.
Also adding it up top... where any extra weight actually contributes to a higher centre of gravity, and increases roll over risk Surprised

Plus I'd rather smash my head against something round than the point on something square.
