I am looking at another quad. Can anyone give me some feedback going from a "normal" quad to a trx700xx IRS quad? i think the IRS might be a bit easier on my tired ,old body.I am just trail riding in the bush. Some tight ,rocky stuff and some open stuff .Is there a big difference to riding one?,do you feel the weight?

Hey Gaz
In stock form the 700XX is in my opinion the best trail bike on the market. Big reliable engine IRS plenty of mud protection and it's a Honda.

Sure you will feel the weight because she is a big girl but she knows how to carry it. The Stock shocks are it's biggest let down once you start pushing it hard but they are just fine for trail riding

I test rode a 700xx before buying my raptor 700.
The Honda had the felt good in a straight line but when I tried to slide the arse end out it felt really strange.
I think it would require a different riding style.

If I was going to ride trails that needed anything more then a bike with a solid axle I would buy a Canam renegade 4x4.
The 700xx is a good bike IMO but they screwed up a good thing with the suspension and the weight it feels like crap.
I would love to ride one with some $$$$ thrown into it but.

thanks for the input, guys.I will be riding a can-am 800 soon but i think the trx is better suited to our riding areas(pretty tight bush).Funny how some say "best ever" and some say"its screwed up" I have also read with a change of tyres they are much better.I think its best i try to scam a ride off some one ,somewhere.I prefer to ride a lighter bike but thems the breaks. The polaris is a polaris, its not me.

Spot on about the tyres change the standed ones with either razors or kenda cutters and it makes a load of differance to the way the back end will slide, I have also put a heavier sway bar in the rear that has made it even better again, On the front i have fitted up a set of can am 450 shocks ( bugger all modification need to top of shock) and this then gives you a comp & rebound adjustment as the stock are spring pre load only. I only trail ride on mine and always had 450's before this but now i wouldnt go back to a SRA for any one, check out club700xx site heaps of good info on there

Thanks for the relavent feedback.I think a 4wd quad is a bit overkill etc for what we do and where we ride. The info from doel20/cowchaser was probly most informative and important to me. I prefer manual gbox not cvt.I like the idea of the trx being based on an XR,pretty darn tough. All the stuff about belts etc ??
I wish people could just stick to the TOPIC at the top!!
I think the TRX could be the best choice.I will factor in the tyres and sway bar into the price.I also like the idea of adj rebound/compression of the can-am shocks, ebay.

All the CVT Belt stuff created on this site is a myth i have taken mine thru 2 Kamfari's 5 series races (15 in total Natural terrain) and racing in wet sand dunes for 2 hours with mudzillas on(running in 2 wheel drive) and then only cooked the belt but still ride able. So if you are looking at trail riding and want a fast 4wd then Canam Renegade is the way to go. The above belt lasted over 2 and half years ,Go figure!!!!!!!!!!

this thread was about a honda 700xx, so any other quad dosent really apply here, so this will be the last non honda post here... Sad

No.....the point was completly missed.

The comparison between the XX and the renegade was valid. The discussion about IRS and furthermore reliability was also on topic.

Personal Attacks will not be tolerated , whether the person is named or not , as it is easy to read between the lines ,,, Very simply the question was asked in reference to a 700 xx and no other quad was mentioned , so please stick to the topic as it was stated

2 of the best mods you can do to the 700xx to make it steer, is a better sway bar on the back http://www.l8tonracing.com/ and adjustable top A arm http://www.teixeiratech.com/proddetail.asp?prod=HonTRX700

OMG, Yogie said the "H" word...... laughing eek eek

I just bought me one of these so Ill chime in with my 2c after I've had a ride or 2. I have an old worn out body as well, although she's chained to the kitchen sink at the mo !
Oops,........ did I say that out loud ?
