Unfortunate the wet weather called rd 1 off, but hope to see everyone at rd 2.
So if any of the out of stater`s are coming to the nationals early, rd 2 is at Ironpot , via Kingaroy, all are welcome, and if more than 20 quads nominate, we WILL hold TWO classes, and all are welcome to stay for some country hospitality and practice leading up to the nationals.

Here are a few pics from previous rounds of ThunderX at Hooks place. This will give you an idea of what the track is like for Round 2, 2011, for those who haven't been.
The amount of preparation and effort that goes into holding this event is phenomenal. Nothing is left out or not thought of. Hot showers, plenty of camping, fires, firewood, hot food , drinks...you name it, it will probably be there.
Track preparation is the best. It is planted with oats (to add water retention and avoid dust) and prior to racing looks like a million dollars. The track is watered constantly for the 2 weeks prior to racing.
The track itself is wide and fast flowing. There is plenty of room to pass
So if you're coming to the Nationals and want some great racing just prior to it, get to this.

This was the email received yesterday re the cancelled round and future rounds:
Good afternoon
Firstly, please accept our apologies for the delay in providing this update, the decision to cancel completely or reschedule Round 1 which was cancelled due to bad weather required a great deal of juggling to determine if a calendar date was available and if the venue was in fact available again at a later date.
Secondly to the cancellation of Jimboomba, Tiaro which was to be Round
4 has also been cancelled due to a number of factors. All in all, both of these events meant a number of obstacles were required to be overcome prior to any public announcement.
As a result, the 2011 KTM Qld Natural Terrain Championships has been reduced to a four (4) round series in the following order:
Round 1 (formerly Rd 2) - Kingaroy (Ironpot) - 25th September
Round 2 (formerly Rd 3) - Mundubbera - 9th October
Round 3 (formerly Rd 1) - Jimboomba - 30th October
Round 4 (formerly Rd 5) - Leyburn - 28th November
As you can see all dates have remained as they were orginally. This change means the following:
- All Round 1 competitor entries will be transferred to the new ROUND
3 - JIMBOOMBA with no financial penalty.
- Any Round 1 competitor wishing to receive a refund will be required to forward their bank details in reply to this email. A $25 cancellation fee will be retained as per the Supplementary Regulations.
- All receipts/invoices originally issued for Jimboomba will be reissued as Round 3 in the coming weeks.
- All competitors who have already entered for Kingaroy will have their receipts reissued as ROUND 1.
- All competitors who made a SERIES ENTRY are requested to forward their bank details in reply to this email so that we may refund the difference.
ENTRIES FOR KINGAROY - RD 1 CLOSE WEDNESDAY, 14TH SEPTEMBER VIA www.nominate.com.au.

Well suppose to be 12 entered, and we`ve put 7 of them in, worked hard to get over 20, a plee with MQ, SO we could run 2 classes and everyone want`s somewhere to ride or race, and you still don`t suite up, fairdinkum, and you wonder why i / we get the ----.
The easter quad only weekend and the cross country we`ve been talking about may just go by the wayside, i don`t expext people to travell huge klms to thunder x, but where are all the quads in SE qld, maybe if you go out of your square you will be suprised..

Cmon guys get behind this... If you haven't raced before it can be daunting.
Before this year I had never raced a quad, didn't have a clue (probably still don't  . I asked lots of questions about Thumbpump 300, drove people crazy with questions on Finke. Got heaps of advice and absolutely loved doing them both !!
The guys organizing this were some of the most helpful people around...
If you are nervous about anything, just ask - trust me you will get all the answers, all the help you need.
Just look at the pictures above, if you don't get excited about the chance of ripping that track up then you must be dead! |

ONE OF THE BEST TRACKS OUT THERE IF NOT THE BEST TRACK, AND YET AGAIN ITS THE SAME FEW RIDERS THAT ARE KEEPING THIS CLASS ALIVE.AND ITS A DAM SAME, THE DAY WILL COME WHEN QUADS WONT HAVE ANY WHERE TO RIDE AND AT THIS RATE IT WONT LONG BEFORE IT HAPPENS AT THIS RATE.

We are driving up a couple of days earlier than planned just to ride this event, thanks to Hook n Sonya for nominating us because the website was down for maintenance. These guys are the most helpful bunch of people you will ever come across!! can't wait to catch up with everyone when we are up there!! not long now!!

Niminate .com will be open till wednesday night, then that`s it.
160 so far nominated.

Shutey as you well know all of us wil have a lot of fun, oh and a guy on a raptor 700 , first time racer on a quad did 3 laps , this arv, came back lickin his lips, can`t wait, it`s my neighbour gadget, reckon he`s gonna beat you , so the pressure is on you mate.
Watering frantically and it will look and be good come sunday !!

Just a quick thank you to Scott and Sonya and everyone else who put in a bucket load of effort over the weekend, and leading up to the Thunder X round at Kingaroy. The track was great and I hope all of the Quad riders had a great time. Well done to Craig for taking out the overall.
