Has anyone had anything to do with DMS suspension?
One of the guys up this way spent big dollars on this stuff only to have massive suspension failures at three consecutive MX meets.

Seems like this suspension is serios injury waiting to happen!

Without running down the business or the product like some other people like to do around here what has been letting go on the shocks for them to fail?

but they are a developing company i'll give em that, but id say stay away from em till they get there "profanity removed" sorted

Can not run down the buisiness as DMS have done everything possible to sort the issues, but first MX meet bent rear shaft , second meet snapped rear shaft, 3rd meet top blew off front shock from what looks to be maybe a hydraulic lock.

So not really sure what is going on as they are supposed to have tested on an MX track.

Maybe some testing with some pro class riders would help.

Good to here that they are backing their product up and i'm sure that they will get it sorted soon enough. As they have a lot of respect in rallying circles by the artical in ATV Action

I'm sure it's just development issues, there is only so much data you can get before it becomes trial and error.......DMS make rally car suspension and dont make crap or use sub-standard materials. They will get it right and I'm sure they will do the job.

A lot more research should have been done on these before they went onto the market, the tracks these are failing on are very mild tracks, I would hate to see what would happen if someone like smithy bolteda set on and went 4 a ride.

I'm not trying to defend DMS or discredit you, I'm just trying to pass on what I know and have seen.

I spent two whole days on an MX track fitted with DMS suspension, clearing all the tabletops (approx nine of varing sizes), and punting it through a full set of stutters, and all the other sections of the MX track.

They had no failures and they worked very well. That is not to say they will never fail, I just had no failures and put them through two rigorous sessions.

I was down at DMS the other day and the owner showed me some shocks that had been returned. One had a blown housing (possibly yours) and he explained to me that who ever adjusted the settings on the dampner left the adjuster half way between two positions, effectivly blocking off an internal port. The result was a hydraulic lock and body failure. As a result he now produces thicker body to prevent failure in the future. In event of an incorrect adjustment by the user all the shock will do now is give the user a rough ride.

As for the shafts, there were two shocks in the factory that had bent shafts (again possibly yours). He couldn't explain the cause for this as these same shafts have been used in 1500kg race cars that bottom out on the shocks, at speeds that well exceed the top speed of our quads. But as a result he has increased the diameter of the threaded portions of the shaft, and eleminated a step in the shaft design.

As the user of the recent failed Drummond Motor (DMS) LT Sport shocks on my 06YFZ450, the lost race time has been a bit disappointing.
DMS after sales service is second to none, as far as a supplier and or manufacture that I have ever dealt with, the best. They are not just returning the same product and hoping to get me through a warranty period, they have been working with me and making every effort to improve their product and make good any improvement opportunities that has arisen.
Prior to the purchase I knew that there was an element of risk buying outside of the imported brands. As a proud Australian I was and still are extremely confident that DMS suspension will outperform any of the imported brands, if DMS continues to develop their ATV suspension products to the same high standards, it won’t be long before the yanks will be doing the importing.
DMS a very professional Aust company that do their best to supply the highest quality products. Cool

Sounds like a bright future for an Ozie company. Anything new will take some sorting and it's good to hear they are not sitting on their hands wishing the problem will go away.
I wish them the best of luck and hope they end up with some kick ass shocks at a good price.
