Anybody thinking of going to Ben Lomond or Griffin Park (Mathinna) at the weekend might have to make other plans. A pic of the road to Ragged Jack Track is attached. Pic taken about midday yesterday.

Bellingham/Bridport is always good and I may be there on the weekend. I haven't decided yet. The tides are good on the weekend to cross the Little Piper River at the Bellingham end. Low tide is about 12pm on Sat, 1pm on Sun & 2pm on Monday. As long as you make sure your back a couple of hours before high tide or you'll get stuck there for 6/7 hours waiting for it to go out again. It's a long wait believe me. The cutting onto the beach may be a problem for 2wd quads after all the rain we've had this year so that needs to be watched.
Going in from the Bridport end may be a problem also because of all the rain we've had if you've only got a 2wd motor vehicle. Last time I went in that way there were pot holes like craters and it was pretty sloppy. 4wd motor vehicles would have no problem.
The shack owners at that end also get very narky on long weekends and and don't like people parking near them. You can always park on the beach but you would definately need a 4wd then. _________________ 2010 Sukuki

WOW
I ride up that way a fair bit with a group of others. I would love to do ragged jack in the snow just to mix it up. It is such a rocky track though. It would be a really slow trip and you would be knackered by the end of it.
Great photo TASATV.
Keep them coming. |

A pic of Ben Lomond from my back yard at Prospect Vale. I don't reckon you could ride above the snow line as the snow would probably be more than a meter deep and the temperature would be well into the minuses.
