hey guys,
purchased a Go Pro last week and used it up at Mackay offroad challenge, came home and tried to upload footage, worked on girlfriends laptop, but on mine it skips and footage is touchy with it looking as if it goes from forward to reverse.....

i was given a Kingston SD/hc card thats 120mins 8gb

is it the card that has caused the footage to be a bit poor?

also another question, the footage that is good looks as if it if going faster then i remember driving and has a loud rattling sound the whole time, (car doesnt make that sound) but it was a little loose in the go pro mount, could that have caused it??

Cheers in advance Mosko

It can be a simple coms problem like dust in your computors card reader Mosko. If it works fine on your GF's laptop, then maybe do your stuff on that. Wink

And yeah, remote cameras need to be fairly secure. Close noises get distorted and amplified while too much shaking can get the battery contacts, in some head cams, all flustered. That can make the footage a bit wierd. eek

Hi Mate.
If your mount is a bit loose then it will cause a rattle when you play it back.
Is your GF's pc any better than yours?
I know the GoPro HD likes to use at least a CLASS 6 card but if it works on her pc then borrow it for a bit.
I run my GoPro HD through my iMac but it has 4GB of ram so never has skipped a beat.
I use the Kingston 32gb class 6 SDHC cards and work fine for me.
Jump onto the GoPro site, they might have some info for you or try http://goprouser.freeforums.org/

This is some footage I took today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhjNYYXKbsw
If you have a listen during the higher speed stuff it sounds like I have a huge vibration like a belly plate or something like that. I've had a good check all over my bike and even went for a quick ride with no helmet just to see if the noise was being muffled from the padding but I can't find anything.
I've also found computers with small graphics capabilities really struggle with the HD footage (like the cheapos we have at work). Good clean-up of computer memory might help.

Hey mate if you look real closely you can notice the camera is moving around abit on your helmet so it looks like it could be loose mounts. Cool

If the bracket wobbles a bit once its in the mount then use the white rubber thing that looks like the letter U with a little circle hanging off it, (came with my motorsport package) to reduce wobble and it also stops the bracket releasing from the mount.
Also never run the open back door in any kind of dusty or wet conditions.

If the mount is loose it can also give the impression of going faster when watching playback. The sound of the engine should be the giveaway.

Have a look at a MAC for video editing.
